ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy will open Patriot League play at defending league champion Colgate on Friday night at 7 pm. The Mids will then host their final non-league game of the season on Sunday at 4 pm against Delaware State at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Live stats will be available on NavySports.com for both games and the Colgate match will have live video available for $5.95. The women's soccer team will be hosting a free post-game clinic following the Delaware State game.

The Navy women's soccer team climbed over the .500 mark with two wins last weekend. The Mids defeated Duquesne, 3-2, in overtime and knocked off regionally-ranked Penn, 3-2. Freshman Paloma Perez provided the game-winning goal in the first overtime period to sink Duquesne on Friday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Mids also rallied from a 2-1 second-half deficit to earn the win at Penn on Sunday. The Mids have now won four of their last five games.
Two of the Best Coaches Around
When Navy head coach Carin Gabarra and Colgate head coach Kathy Brawn meet on Friday, they will bring a cumulative total of 450 wins and 38 years of Division I coaching experience to the sidelines. Gabarra is in her 18th year and has a DI record of 227-113-28 (.655) and Brawn is in her 20th year and has a career mark of 223-133-27 (.591). Gabarra is also the active leader for most wins in Patriot League history and Brawn is ranked second. Gabarra is currently ranked 24th nationally among active DI coaches in total wins and Brawn is 26th.

We've had some ups and downs this season and we are starting to play better. I think we are in a good place and we are ready to start the big games."

"Colgate's consistently good. They've been good since we've joined the league. They've won league more than any other team and they've got a great history. It's also a very hard place to play. It's a very small field, the weather is colder and the conditions are usually worse than they are here so it's a tough place to beat them. But it's our focus right now, we trained for it this week and its our goal to go up there and play the best soccer we've played so far."
Navy in Patriot League Play
The Mids are set to begin their 17th season of Patriot League competition. The Mids have posted an all-time record of 66-28-12 (.679) during the regular season. In addition, the team is 19-4-5 (.768) during the regular season over the past four seasons. Navy has won three Patriot League Tournament Championships (2003, 2006 and 2007) and six regular season championships (1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008).
Senior Youker Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
Senior Carissa Youker was awarded for her four-point weekend by being named the Patriot League/BRINE Offensive Player of the Week. The weekly accolade is the third of Youker's career. The two-time all-league player is also climbing Navy's career scoring charts. She is tied for second in game-winning goals (13), ranks seventh in goals (23) and 10th in points (57). Youker had an assist against Duquesne and a goal and an assist against Penn.

Navy Holds a .843 Winning Percentage at Glenn Warner
Beginning with the inaugural season at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in 2001, Navy has posted an 85-13-7 (.843) all-time record at their home field. Navy is also 8-0-2 (.900) in Patriot League contests at the GWSF over the past three seasons (2007-09).
Scouting Colgate
The Raiders enter the game at 3-7-0, but have played some tough competition. Two of their losses have come to then-No. 15 Virginia and then-No. 17 Rutgers. Colgate, who is the defending league regular season and tournament champions, has been picked to repeat this season in the preseason poll. Jillian Kinter is the team's top scorer with three goals and Calista Victor, a first-team all-league nominee in 2009, paces their defensive backline. The Raiders lead the all-time series against Navy, 13-10-2, and are 8-3-1 at Van Doren Field. Since the 2006 season, Navy leads the series 5-1-1, which includes a 2-1 mark in postseason tournament play.

Scouting Delaware State
The Hornets will enter Sunday's game with a 1-10-0 record. Their only win of the season came in a 3-1 defeat of Wagner on Sept. 19. Theresa Wappett is the team's leading scorer with four points. The Hornets have been outscored 41-6 this season. This is Delaware State's second season playing women's soccer in the Great West, a conference that stretches geographically from New Jersey to Texas to California. Navy is 2-0 all-time against Delaware State, having blanked the team in each of the past two seasons. Brittany Fruin scored in the Navy's 2-0 win in 2009 and Carissa Youker had a career-best two goals in Navy's 5-0 win in Annapolis in 2008.

After being ranked 10th in the Mid-Atlantic Region Poll earlier this season, Navy is once again garnering the attention of poll voters. The Mids are currently one of two teams receiving votes for the Sept. 28 poll. The Mids have fared well against other teams that are currently ranked in the region. Navy defeated No. 6 Penn on the road, 3-2, last weekend and also own a 1-0 road win over No. 7 George Mason. Patriot League member Lehigh is the other team currently receiving votes with Navy.

A Tradition of Success
The Navy women's soccer program has surpassed the double-figure win total 15-straight years dating back to 1998. There are currently 323 Division I soccer teams and only 10 have won 10 or more games in each of the last 15 seasons.

Army-Navy Game to be Broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel
The October 8th Army-Navy game in West Point, N.Y. will be broadcast on the Fox Soccer Channel as the NSCAA College Game of the Week. The game will be shown on a four-hour tape delay and the broadcast will start at 11 p.m., following the Davidson-Wofford men's soccer game at 8 p.m.
Up Next
In only their second weekend of league play, the Mids will wrap up the road portion of their Patriot League schedule when they play at Army on Friday and at Holy Cross on Sunday. Navy's final four league games will all be at home. The Army game will be televised nationally on the Fox Soccer Channel at 11 pm (game will be played at 7 pm). This will be the 21st meeting between the two rivals, with Navy holding a 10-8-2 lead in the series. Also, Navy is 3-1-1 in the previous five games.
