Women's Swimming & Diving Home Wednesday Evening

Jan. 24, 2012

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's swimming and diving team will conclude its dual meet season Wednesday evening when the Midshipmen play host to Johns Hopkins at 5 p.m. in Lejeune Hall.

Live results from the meet can be accessed at NavySports.com.

Navy enters the meet with a 6-4 record on the season, while Johns Hopkins has posted an undefeated record through seven meets. Two of the wins tallied by the Blue Jays this year came against Loyola, a team Navy also defeated, and Saint Francis (Pa.).

"We're looking forward to swimming at home again," said Navy head coach John Morrison. "George Kennedy is an awesome coach and he has the Hopkins team in a great position to place among the top-three teams at the NCAA D-III National Championship, which would be an outstanding showing for their program. Needless to say, we will be challenged in every event.

"It also will be the last dual meet for our senior class, and I know our team would like to send them out with great meet."

Last year's meet between the Mids and the Blue Jays was cancelled due to poor weather in the region. The last time the two teams competed against each other was in the fall of 2009 when Navy posted a 156-96 win over Johns Hopkins.

Following Wednesday's meet against Johns Hopkins, the Mids will play host to the Navy Invitational on Saturday before taking part in the Patriot League Championship in mid-February in Lejeune Hall.
