ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With two thrilling overtime victories this past weekend, Navy looks to continue its success when it hosts High Point and Iona this weekend. The Midshipmen will begin the weekend against High Point on Friday (7 PM). Then on Sunday, the Mids will welcome Iona on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start. Live stats will be available for both contests, while the Navy/High Point match will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Digital Network.
Scouting High Point
• Navy leads the all-time series against High Point, 1-0-1 with the most recent contest ending in a scoreless tie in 2011.
• High Point hasn't started the 2013 season like it wanted. In three road contests, the Panthers have been outscored 15-1, with losses against Virgina Tech (L, 7-1), William & Mary (L, 3-0) and Elon (L, 5-0).
• The Panthers have tallied goals from Kelli Joline and Jill Graff to begin the season.
• In five seasons at High Point, head coach Marty Beall has accrued a 24-9-6 record.
Scouting Iona
• Iona has started the season in a Mr. Hyde/Dr. Jekyl type of way. At home, the Gaels are 1-1-1, having played three America East teams - Albany, Binghamton and Hartford. Iona has tallied a neutral goal margin with three goals scored and three given up. On the road, the Gaels are 0-3 and have yet to score a goal. Iona has lost to Fairleigh Dicksinon (L, 1-0), Towson (L, 3-0) and Fordham (L, 1-0).
• Iona has seen three different goal scorers in five games- Nicole, Paulucci (1), Safi Ayinde (1) and Kim Marra (1).
• The Gaels starting goalkeeper Trista Rivera has played every minute (472:53) between the pipes for Iona this season. Rivera owns a 1.33 goals against average with a .759 save percentage.
• This is the first time that Iona and Navy will face off in their program's history in women's soccer.
Career Firsts
• Freshman forward Cat Macklin scored her first collegiate goal against The Citadel on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Dangerous Dankanich
• Junior forward Morgan Dankanich is becoming more and more dangerous on offense to opposing defenses. Dankanich recorded five points on two goals and one assist to garner the Patriot League BRINE Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9 through Sept. 15.
• Dankanich tallied her seventh career game-winning goal, first of this season, against Duquesne in double overtime. Then on Sunday, again in overtime, she tallied the game-winning assist against St. Bonaventure.
Tempo-Setting Davidson
• Sophomore midfielder Kaylie Davidson seems to be the go-to midfielder to kick start the offense. Davidson scored the first goal of the season for Navy against N.C. State. That goal versus the Wolfpack gave the Midshipmen a 1-0 lead heading into the second half.
• Then two days later, the Oceanside, Calif. native scored the first of Navy's five total goals against The Citadel. Her goal was the eventual game-winner, which brought her tally of game-winning goals to four in her career.
• Her two-goal performance last week garnered her as the Navy Athlete of the Week. She is the first in the 2013-14 academic year to be named with that honor.
• Against St. Bonaventure, Davidson recorded her second game-winning goal of the season in overtime.
Full Speed Ahead
• Navy is primed for another chance to win the Patriot League Title. The Midshipmen return nine starters and 17 total letterwinners from the 2012 season.
• Navy's leading goal scorer from last season, senior forward Ashlynn Soellner, returns on the attacking end. Soelnner paced the Mids with 29 points on 10 goals and 9 assists in 2012.
• The Patriot League recognized the Midshipmen were ready to challenge for the title, placing three Mids on the 2013 preseason team, Soellner, Elizabeth Hoerner and Jade Seabrook. Seabrook was also named the conference's preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
All-Around Performer
• Having played just three games before her junior year, goalkeeper Elizabeth Hoerner's junior campaign put the spotlight on her for the upcoming senior season. The Lititz, Pa. native has been placed on three different preseason honors and was named the team's captain for 2013.
• Hoerner's 1.06 goals against average, .808 save percentage, four shutouts and a 17-2-1 record in 2012 not only garnered her a spot on the 2013 Patriot League Preseason Team, but is being watched as one of 31 potential candidates in all of Division 1 women's soccer for the MAC Hermann Trophy this season.
• The senior goalkeeper has excelled at a high level in the classroom, having accrued a 3.86 GPA as an Honors Oceanography major. She has been named to the Superintendent's List five times and the Commandant's List six times. She ranks second among her 1,098 classmates in Military Order of Merit and is 61st in Overall Order of Merit. Her performance in the classroom, on the field, her character as a team captain and community service has placed her as one of 30 worthy candidates in Division I women's soccer for the 2013 senior CLASS award.
Dynamic Defender
• Along with her teammate Hoerner, junior defender Jade Seabrook has placed on the big stage following a terrific 2012 campaign as a full-time starter. Seabrook started in 20 games, tallying eight points on two goals and four assists. She also anchored a Navy backline that blanked nine opponents.
• The St. Paris, Ohio native has been placed on the 2013 Patriot League Preseason Team, MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and was named the conference's preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Patriot League Preseason Poll
Following a tough loss in the Patriot League Championship game, Navy has been predicted to finish second this season. Newcomer, Boston University, is the overwhelming favorite to win the regular season, having tallied 12 of the 20 first-place votes.

Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting one hour before each game and will continue running throughout the game and for one hour after.
