CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After shutting down Lafayette's most-threatening goal scorer and anchoring Navy's defense to its seventh shutout of the season, senior defender Emily Wilkin (Westerville, Ohio) was named Patriot League BRINE Defender of the Week, announced on Monday by the conference office. This is Wilkin's first career patriot league weekly award.

As vocal leader of the backline, Wilkin helped organize the Mids to one of their best defensive games this season. Navy allowed just one shot on net for the fourth time this season. Lafayette's Jaclyn Giordano, Wilkin's responsibility to keep in check, was held to just one shot in the 65 minutes she played. The Westerville, Ohio native has started in 30 consecutive matches, dating back Aug. 27, 2012.

Navy looks to stretch its seven-match winning streak against American on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Reeves Field. Match is slated for 3:30 p.m.
