ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's soccer team (7-4-2, 3-1 PL) will host Bucknell (6-7-0, 2-2 PL) on Saturday at 7:00 PM at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Free live video and live statistics will be available. Joe Miller will handle the play-by-play duties.
Navy has posted three straight shutout wins over Patriot League opponents to move into second place (9 points) behind first-place Boston U. (12 points). Navy blanked Lafayette (1-0), #20 American (2-0) and Colgate (2-0) in its last three games.
Junior Jackson Morgan was named the Corvais Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week after shutting out both American and Colgate last week. Morgan made nine saves on the week in the two clean sheets. Morgan ranks second in the conference in goals-against average (0.73) and save percentage (.818). Morgan has not allowed a goal in 305 minutes.
Junior forward Jamie Dubyoski was named the Corvais Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and earned the Patriot League Rockin' Refuel Performance of the Week. Dubyoski had the game-winning goal in Navy's 2-0 win at Colgate and also assisted on a goal in Navy's 2-0 win over American. Dubyoski leads Navy with 14 points on five goals and four assists. He has four game-winning goals this season.
Senior Joseph Greenspan was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week after helping Navy post the two shutout wins last week. Greenspan, a 2013 NSCAA All-American, is currently tied for third place in program history with 71 career games played. The program record of 74 career games played, set by 2014 graduate Dave Arnold, is well within his reach.
Head coach Dave Brandt is also approaching a career milestone. Brandt enters Saturday's game with a career record of 298-63-30 and is on his way to becoming just the 17th active coach at the Division I level to reach 300 career victories.
Navy leads the Patriot League in scoring offense (1.69 goals per game) and is third in goals-against average (0.80). Junior Derek Vogel, playing an attacking position this fall after playing as a center back last year, leads the Patriot League with six assists.
Navy is 11-0-0 in its last 11 games played in the month of October.
Navy beat Bucknell, 2-1, in the Patriot League Regular Season last fall. Navy gave up a goal in the sixth minute, but Vogel evened the game in the 56th and Arnold put Navy ahead in the 72nd minute. Navy also defeated Bucknell in the 2013 Patriot League Semifinals, 1-0. Arnold tallied the game's lone goal in the 58th minute to punch Navy's ticket to the conference championship game.
Bucknell is coming off a 1-0 defeat against American last Saturday. Bucknell was called for a foul in the penalty box in the 34th minute and Liam Robley converted the penalty kick.
Jesse Klug leads Bucknell, and is ranked second in the Patriot League, with 16 points on six goals and four assists. Jonathan Grad has 13 points on five goals and three assists and Chris Thorsheim has 10 points on three goals and four assists.
Bucknell has rotated goalkeepers this season. Clarke Fox is 3-3-0 with an 0.80 goals-against average in 561 minutes, while Mike Lansing is 3-4-0 with a 1.03 goals-against average in 610 minutes.
Navy will play its final non-conference game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 21 when the Mids host UMBC at 7:00 PM.
Parking / Shuttle Information
Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting at 6:00 PM and will continue running until 10:30 PM. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
