Setting the Stage

• Navy (4-1, 2-0 in the American) will look to bounce back from its first loss of the year on Saturday when the Mids play host to Tulane (2-4, 1-2 in the American) on Homecoming at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000).
• The Mids are receiving votes in the USA Today/Coaches Poll this week.
• Navy's 4-1 record is the Mids' best start under head coach Ken Niumatalolo and Navy's best start since 2006 when the Mids started 5-1 en route to a 9-4 season. Navy won the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy that year before losing to Matt Ryan and the Boston College Eagles in heartbreaking fashion in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, 25-24.
• Dating back to last year, Navy has won 10 of its last 12 games with the only two losses coming to Notre Dame in Landover, Md. in 2014 and at Notre Dame in 2015.
• Senior quarterback Keenan Reynolds has scored 73 career touchdowns (all rushing), the most in NCAA history by a quarterback and the most by any player in school history. The 73 career rushing touchdowns are tied for the second most in NCAA history among all players for rushing touchdowns and he is just four behind record holder Montee Ball of Wisconsin. His 3,674 career rushing yards are the second most in school history.
• Reynolds has been held out of the end zone in each of his last two games which is the first time in his career that has happened as a starter.
• Saturday's game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with John Sadak, Randy Cross and Sheehan Stanwick-Burch on the call.
• The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air at 11:00 AM.
• The Navy Football Pregame Show with Pete Medhurst, Omar Nelson and Joe Miller will get underway at 12:00 PM, followed by game action beginning at 1:00 PM on the Navy Radio Network.
• Following the contest, Medhurst, Nelson and Miller will recap the day's events in a 60-minute postgame show.

Game Day Festivities
• Pregame festivities will get underway at approximately 10:15 AM with the Navy Football Team Walk. Originating at the Blue Angel in the southwest corner of the stadium, the team will make its way down the sidewalk and through NavyFest before walking up the drive to the stadium. Fans are encouraged to line up on both sides of the sidewalk to cheer for the team.
• The March-On of the Brigade of Midshipmen will take place at 12:45 PM.
• There will be two fly-overs on Saturday. At the conclusion of the National Anthem, five SNJ-5 TEXANs based out of Virginia and Maryland will fly-by and then, when the Navy team runs out, two F/A 18E's from the VFA-81 "SUN LINERS" and two F/A 18C's from the VFA-131 "WILDCATS" stationed out of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va will fly-by. The second fly-over will feature Naval Academy grads Lt. Cmdr. Adam Bryan, USNA `05, Lt. Cmdr. Patrick Bookey, USNA `03, Lt. Matt Davidson, USNA `10 and Lt. Mary Ruttum USNA `10. Ruttum is an Annapolis native and a former women's lacrosse player for the Mids.
• Following the game, Navy's alma mater, Navy Blue & Gold, will be played as the team stands at attention in front of the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is one of the greatest traditions in all of sports.

Homecoming
• This will be Navy's 66th Homecoming football game. The Mids are 41-24 all-time on Homecoming and have won three straight.
• Last year, Navy defeated San Jose State on Homecoming, 41-31. The Mids beat Pitt (24-21) and Indiana (31-30) the previous two years.
• Tulane has been Navy's Homecoming opponent once before. In 2005, which is also the last time that Tulane visited Annapolis, the Mids jumped out to a 28-0 first quarter lead and went on to a 49-21 victory over the Green Wave.
• That 2005 Tulane game happened when the city of New Orleans was in the midst of recovering from Hurricane Katrina and the Tulane football team was living and practicing at Louisiana Tech. Naval Academy Athletic Association paid for Tulane's trip to Annapolis, as well as its hotel accommondations and meals.

Scouting Tulane
• The Green Wave are 2-4 on the year with victories over Maine (38-7) and UCF (45-31) and losses to Duke (37-7), Georgia Tech (65-10), Temple (49-10) and Houston (42-7).
• Tulane has four running backs that have rushed for more than 100 yards on the season. Dontrell Hilliard leads the way with 44 carries for 241 yards and three touchdowns, while Sherman Badie has carried the ball 29 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Rob Kelly has carried the ball 37 times for 154 yards, while Lazedrick Thompson has 33 carries for 133 yards and one touchdown.
• Quarterback Tanner Lee has started five of six games for the Green Wave (sat out the Houston game with a reported concussion) and has completed 85 of his 154 pass attempts for 973 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Devin Powell, who started against Houston, has completed 16 of his 36 pass attempts for 157 yards with one touchdown.

• The Tulane defense is led by Nico Marley, who has recorded 44 tackles and 6.0 tackles for a loss with one interception. Eric Thomas has been in on 43 tackles with five tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble, while Jarrod Franklin has made 34 stops, 3.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.
• Andrew DiRocco is 4-for-4 on field goals, while Trevor Simms is 0-for-1. Peter Picerelli is averaging 36.5 yards per punt on 26 punts, while Zach Block is also averaging 40.1 yards per punt on 17 punts..

Navy Falls At #15 Notre Dame, 41-24
• Navy fell to No. 15 Notre Dame 41-24 at a sold out Notre Dame Stadium, ending the Mids' eight-game winning streak.
• The Midshipmen kept it close early as they rallied to tie the score at 21 late in the second quarter on TD runs of 45 and 22 yards by fullback Quentin Ezell after quarterback Keenan Reynolds went down with a leg injury. But a 52-yard field goal by Justin Yoon to close the first half and a pair of touchdowns early in the second half by C.J. Prosise gave the Irish a 17-point lead they wouldn't relinquish.
• Navy entered the game tied for best in the nation with one turnover. Chris Swain fumbled at the Navy 7-yard line in the second quarter and linebacker Jaylon Smith recovered. On the opening second-half kickoff, Dishan Romine fumbled at the 26 and Devin Butler recovered.
• Reynolds sat out part of the second quarter and the end of the game after falling awkwardly on his left leg while being tackled.
• Reynolds finished with 110 yards rushing on 15 carries, but the Irish held him without a rushing touchdown for a second straight season. His replacement, Tago Smith threw an interception in the fourth quarter.
• The Midshipmen came into the game averaging 340 yards rushing a game and finished with 318, but couldn't overcome the turnovers.
• Smith led the Midshipmen to touchdown drives with Reynolds out and replaced Reynolds again with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. He drove Navy to the 30-yard line with six minutes left in the game, but his pass was intercepted by Notre Dame safety Elijah Shumate at the Irish 6-yard line.
• Navy's Austin Grebe missed a 44-yard field goal, the first miss of his career, but made a 40-yard attempt later in the third quarter to cut the lead to 38-24.
• Navy jumped to a 7-0 lead early on a 13-yard run by Toneo Gulley after holding Notre Dame to a three-and-out on its first possession. The Irish had scored on their first two possessions against Navy in every game since 2011. It took the Mids just three plays to drive 70 yards, highlighted by a 51-yard run by Reynolds on the game's first play.

10 Wins In The Last 12 Games
• The Mids enter Saturday's game against Tulane having won 10 of their last 12 games.
• The only two losses in that stretch was a 49-39 loss to Notre Dame at FEDEXFIELD in Landover, Md. in 2014 and a 41-24 loss to Notre Dame in South Bend in 2015.

Time To Get Ready
• Under head coach Ken Niumatalolo, the Mids are 19-14 (.576) with more than one week to prepare for an opponent.
