Oct. 18, 2016 ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Aiming to solidify one of the top three spots in the Patriot League, the Navy women's soccer team (7-8-2, 3-2-1 PL) welcomes American (1-13-2, 0-4-2 PL) on Wednesday at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

Overtime Thriller
• Navy freshman Cadie Higginson (New Orleans, La.) scored the golden goal in the 106th minute to help the Navy women's soccer team defeat Colgate, 4-3, in double overtime Saturday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field in Hamilton, New York. With the win, Navy improved to 3-2-1 in Patriot League play, while Colgate fell to 2-4-0.
• With time winding down in the second overtime, Navy (7-8-3, 3-2-1 PL) found itself attacking inside the 18-yard box in the 106th minute. As the ball was loose inside the box, sophomore Karli Sottung (Westfield, N.J.) launched a shot at net, but was denied by Kelly Chiavaro, bounced off the cross bar and back into play. Higginson was the first one toward the loose ball and ripped her shot to the far post for the game winner.
• Higginson recorded the program's 24th golden goal and first since Kaylie Davidson's versus St. Bonaventure on Sept. 8, 2013. Higginson's goal at 105:50 was the fourth latest goal at Navy.
• Along with Higginson's game winner, senior Rachel Feldman (Danville, Calif.) was Navy's offensive catalyst in the regulation as she tallied all three of the Mids goals to force overtime. Feldman became the eighth different Mid in program history to record a hat trick.
Playoff Picture
• Navy earned a crucial league win over Colgate last weekend to move into sole possession of third place with 10 points.
• The Mids have three matches left, two at home against American and Lafayette and one on the road versus Boston University.
• Bucknell (18 points; 6-0 PL) and Boston University (15 pts; 5-1 PL) sit atop the league standings at the moment.
• Below Navy are six teams with fourth and ninth place separated by just three points. Army West Point (8 pts; 2-2-2 PL) is sitting fourth. Lehigh and Lafayette both sit tied-for fifth at six points and a 2-3-1 league mark. Loyola (6 pts; 1-2-3 PL) and Colgate (6 pts; 2-4-0 PL) are tied-for seventh, while Holy Cross is ninth at 1-3-2 with five points.
Climbing The Record Book
• Junior forward Clare MacAdam has had two great years in a Navy uniform and has not wasted any time in 2016 to build upon those two seasons to continue her momentum. In two seasons, MacAdam tallied 42 points on 18 goals and six assists, which included five game-winning goals, in 43 games played.
• In 17 matches, MacAdam has recorded six goals and five assists to bring her career total 59 points on 24 goals and 11 assists.
• Her 59 points puts her tied-for 12th all-time with Michelle Nance at Navy. MacAdam also sits tied-for ninth all-time at Navy in goals with 24.
Scouting American
• The Eagles are 1-13-2 overall and 0-4-2 in Patriot League play. American struggled in the nonconference slate, owning a 1-9 mark and were outscored, 31-7.
• American has earned two ties in league play, tying Loyola, 2-2 and Army West Point, 1-1, while falling to Colgate, 1-0, Boston University, 1-0, Lafayette, 3-0 and Bucknell, 5-1.
• Madie Light leads the Eagles offense with five points on two goals and one assist. Teammate Kira Flaherty recorded American's lone game winner against Longwood.
• American has used three different goalkeepers. Morgan Lang has spent the most time in net, logging 837:09 minutes with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .643 save percentage.
• The Eagles offense has been shutout in seven matches, which includes three league games.

• Navy owns a 14-7-3 all-time record against American.
• The Mids are 7-3-1 when hosting the Eagles in Annapolis.
• In the last seven matches, Navy is 7-0 against American and have outscored its opponent, 16-1.
• Navy and American last met in the 2015 Patriot League Quarterfinals in Annapolis, Maryland. The Mids posted a 6-0 shutout over the Eagles to advance to the league's semifinal. Parking / Shuttle Information
Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting at 6:00 PM, one hour prior to the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. to park at the stadium. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
