April 15, 2016 ANNAPOLIS, Md. â€" The Navy men's basketball team recently held its year-end team banquet and handed out its six team awards to seven different student-athletes. The program also recognized seniors Tilman Dunbar, Will Kelly and Kendall Knorr.
Kevin Sinnett Academic Achievement Award â€" Kendall Knorr
Awarded to the men's basketball player who demonstrates work ethic, commitment and pride in the classroom and in his efforts to represent the team in the academic arena.
Defensive Player of the Year Award â€" Will Kelly
Awarded to the men's basketball player who performed exceptionally as an individual and team defender. The award is given for his attitude to NAVY DEFENSE.
Paul Evans Most Improved Player Award â€" Shawn Anderson, Jace Hogan and Tom Lacey
Awarded to the men's basketball player who has demonstrated a desire to be the best Navy basketball player he can be and shown measurable improvement in key year-to-year statistics.
Charles McDonough Most Outstanding Player Award â€" Tilman Dunbar
Awarded to the men's basketball player whose performance, ability and statistics had the greatest impact throughout the season.
Rear Admiral Ronald Marryott Award â€" Grant Vermeer
This is the highest honor bestowed upon a Navy basketball player. Awarded to the men's basketball player who embodies what a Navy basketball player is about. He plays for Navy while demonstrating a commitment to character, to leadership and to his teammates.
David Robinson Award â€" Will Kelly
The Robinson Trophy is awarded to a men's basketball player of the graduating class who contributed the most to the team's success over his playing career.
Dunbar and Kelly also received commemorative game balls for their career milestones.
