CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's soccer freshman midfielder Cadie Higginson (New Orleans, La.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, which was announced by the league office on Monday.
It only took one match for Higginson to get acclimated to the collegiate level, as she tallied her first collegiate goal against No. 5/1 Stanford in the 78th minute to cut the deficit to one, 2-1. Following the Cardinal's first goal in the 54th minute, Higginson was substituted in the 69th minute to give the Mids' offense a spark. After Stanford put in its second goal, the freshman midfielder received a feed from teammate Rachel Feldman and redirected it to the far post to put Navy on the board.
In two matches, Higginson has played 99 minutes in the midfield and has tallied one goal on one shot.
Navy will begin a four-match road trip, beginning with two matches in the state of North Carolina. The Mids will open with UNC-Wilmington on Friday (7 PM) and conclude with North Carolina State on Sunday (1 PM).
