ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy sprint football team (3-1) plays its final road game of the regular season on Saturday as the Midshipmen travel to Waterbury, Conn. for a game against Post University (0-3). Kickoff between the Mids and Eagles is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. at LaMoy Field.
The game will be broadcast on the Post University Network. It is available in standard definition for free with an upgrade to HD available for $5. In addition, free live stats will also be available.
Navy is 6-0 all-time against Post. The Midshipmen have outscored the Eagles, 228-47, with three shutouts. The last meeting saw the Mids post a 50-0 victory in Annapolis, while two years ago Navy notched a 21-0 win in the last meeting between the two teams in Waterbury.
The Mids have not allowed the Eagles to score since Jay'Len Mahan took the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in the 2014 game. Navy has held Post scoreless for 179 minutes and 44 seconds, spanning 11+ quarters of play.
Last Time vs. Post (Sept. 30, 2016):
The Navy sprint football team kicked off the home portion of its 2016 schedule with a dominant 50-0 victory over the Post Eagles at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. From taking the opening drive 57 yards for a touchdown through the final clock showing 0:00, the Mids displayed strong form versus the Eagles.
Besides the scoreboard, Navy out-gained Post by 331 yards as the Mids' offense combined for 445 yards of output, while its defense controlled the Eagles to the tune of 114 total yards. In its shutout, Navy's defense held Post to -25 rushing yards and forced one turnover, a third quarter interception in the red zone.
Offensively, the Mids had both parts of its attack working with 277 rushing yards and 168 yards passing. The talented duo of Brendon Clements (Miami, Fla.) and Mac Lavis (Orinda, Calif.) spearheaded Navy's rushing game as Clements went for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, while Lavis recorded 78 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries as well.
Quarterback Jon Saadey (Canfield, Ohio) ran the offense and turned in a crisp statline of 136 yards and three touchdowns on 9-of-10 passing, in addition to 34 rushing yards. Miles Whitlow (Clemens, Ala.) was Saadey's top target as he hauled in three passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, the Mids had a well-rounded showing with 13 players recording multiple tackles and none with more than four in the game. Defensive lineman Bryant Schlade (Napoleon, Ohio) was one of six Navy defenders with tackles. Two of his stops were behind the line of scrimmage as he was credited with 1.5 sacks of Post's quarterback Buddy Enriquez. Troy Monroe (Columbus, Ga.) and Kendall Mackey (Atlanta, Ga.) also made big plays for the Mids as Monroe augmented his three tackles with a safety on a blocked punt in the end zone. Mackey left his mark on the game as he picked off a deflected Enriquez pass for his second interception on the season.

The Navy sprint football team suffered a 40-6 defeat at the hand of archrival Army West Point on Saturday afternoon at Shea Stadium in West Point, N.Y. The Black Knights jumped out to an early lead and were able to keep the Midshipmen offense contained to earn the star.
Army had a distinct advantage in the passing game, throwing for 260 yards compared to 128 yards in the air by Navy. The Mids had a 79-63 edge in yards on the ground. The Black Knights tallied just two more first downs than the Midshipmen. Army held a five-minute advantage in time of possession, holding the ball for nearly 10 minutes longer than Navy in the second half.
Brandon Coleman (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Braydan Chmiel (Warrenton, Mo.) split time at quarterback for the Mids. Coleman finished the game 5-for-15 for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Chmiel amassed 73 yards on two completions, including a long of 53 yards. Julius Lee (Chillicothe, Ohio) led the team with 71 yards receiving. He had a pair of receptions, including a touchdown.
Stefano Saragusa (Haines City, Fla.) and Coleman paced the rushing attack with 45 yards apiece. Saragusa recorded a bulk of the load notching a team high 17 carries.
Defensively, the Midshipmen had four players with seven or more tackles in the game. Dean Rye (Fairfax, Va.) led the way with a team-high nine stops. Mason Hooten (Orlando, Fla.) and Sheppard Wilson (Charlotte, N.C.) each added eight tackles, while senior captain Alex Oldham (Dayton, Ohio) registered seven stops. Gavin O'Donnell (Greenfield Township, Pa.) led the team with three tackles for loss, while Hooten added a pair of TFLs.
