Sprint Football Earns Three Major Awards as All-CSFL Honors Announced

Navy claimed Offensive (Hunter Gennicks), Defensive (Jake Wolinski), and Special Teams (Jacori Sutton) Players of the Year.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) announced its 2025 postseason list of All-League honorees. The Navy sprint football team had 14 different players earn All-CSFL accolades, with running back Hunter Gennicks being named Offensive Player of the Year, linebacker Jack Wolinski claiming Defensive Player of the Year, and kicker Jacori Sutton earning Special Teams Player of the Year. The Midshipmen tallied six First Team All-CSFL honors with seven players being named to the second team and one claiming honorable mention distinction.

All nine teams in the CSFL were represented on the All-CSFL squad. The All-CSFL team was selected by the head coaches in the league and is split into first team, second team and honorable mention recognitions.

Offensive Player of the Year: Hunter Gennicks, Running Back
Gennicks earned First Team All-CSFL for the second consecutive year. The junior played and started all eight games at running back, finishing the season with 171 carries for 1188 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He averaged 148.5 rushing yards per game with 6.9 yards per carry. Additionally, Gennicks added 11 receptions for 74 yards and a pair of receiving TDs. He was responsible for 15 of Navy's 45 touchdowns scored during the season.

Defensive Player of the Year: Jake Wolinski, Linebacker
For the second straight year, Wolinski was tabbed First Team All-CSFL as a linebacker. The senior led the team with 63 total tackles, notching 26 solo stops to go along with 37 assisted tackles. Wolinski, who played and started all eight games, was second on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss, while adding a sack and a fumble recovery. In addition, Wolinski intercepted a pair of passes, returning one for a touchdown. He also broke up a pair of passes and was credited with a quarterback hurry.

Special Teams Player of the Year: Jacori Sutton, Kicker
Sutton's First Team All-CSFL selection was the second time the sophomore was named all-conference after earning second-team distinction as a freshman in 2024. He was second on the team behind Gennicks in points scored, finishing the year with 41 points. The sophomore converted 32 extra-point attempts, while adding three field goals, including the game-winning field goal in overtime against Army to secure the Star and the CSFL Championship for Navy. Sutton tallied 2,633 yards on 50 total kickoffs for an average of 52.7, while adding eight punts for 324 yards and a 40.5-yard average.

Gennicks, Wolinski, and Sutton were also named All-Collegiate Sprint Football League, joining offensive lineman John Dutton, offensive lineman Kerry Johnson, and defensive lineman Tyler Meisenzahl on the first team.

Quarterback Luke O'Connell, running back Broderick Freeman, and wide receiver Jake Berger were second-team offensive selections, while defensive lineman Mick Tabor, linebacker Seamas Carrasco, defensive back Owen Erker, and defensive back Tucker Opdahl received second-team honors on defense. Linebacker Sam Stotler earned honorable mention accolades.

Navy finished the 2025 season 8-0 overall, winning the CSFL Championship. The championship gave Navy its 41st conference championship overall and the 34th outright title in program history. It was the fourth conference championship for the Midshipmen in the last five years.
