ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy sprint football coach Captain Carter Reading, USMC announced that seniors
Hunter Gennicks (Linton, Ind.) and
Mick Tabor (Omaha, Neb.) will be team captains for the 2026 campaign. Gennicks will serve as the offensive captain, while Tabor will captain the defense.
Gennicks, who was named the Collegiate Sprint Football League Most Valuable Player as a junior, is a two-time First Team All-CSFL performer at running back. He has amassed 2,256 rushing yards on 338 carries with 26 rushing touchdowns, while adding 181 receiving yards and three TD catches in 22 games played.
"This is truly the greatest honor of my life," Gennicks stated. "The men I most value most and look up to have all worn this jersey. I am extremely humbled and grateful to be elected by my brothers as the leader for our final season. This team means the world to me and I am ecstatic to work alongside Mick to continue to dominate the league."
Entering his final season, Tabor has played in 21 games, recording 59 total tackles, including 23 solo stops, while notching 15.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a pair of pass breakups. For his efforts during the 2024 season, he was named First Team All-Collegiate Sprint Football League, while claiming second-team all-conference distinction in 2025.
"I am not only extremely humbled to be chosen by my brothers, but also excited to be able to lead alongside one of my best friends," said Tabor. "This team means a substantial amount to both Hunter and I, and I couldn't imagine a better group of dudes to go into the offseason with. I'm very excited to get to work!"
Navy opens up the 2026 sprint football season at home against Penn on Friday, Sept. 18.
