ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy intercollegiate sailing team had one home and one away regatta this past weekend. The home event was the largest women's college sailing regatta of the spring season, the Navy Spring Women's Regatta. Twenty teams from all around the country came to Annapolis and enjoyed some tight racing. The weather cooperated all weekend and despite some fickle wind on Saturday afternoon, 16 quality races were completed per division. Navy's women wound up 15th overall. Jessica McJones and Karma Richards finished 13th in A division while Brittney Slook and Emma Remis were 15th in B.

Navy's second event of the MAISA Team Race League was the John Jackson Team Race hosted at Georgetown University. The racing took place in the lagoon next to National Airport, which had extremely shifty winds and flat water. The host did a great job of moving the course around to accommodate the conditions, though and the racing was great. Navy made it through the initial rounds of the regatta with a 9-5 record and advanced to the final four round.

The Midshipmen went 2-1 in the final four to secure third overall, just behind Boston College and Georgetown. Navy's team consisted of skippers Peter Hogan, Jimmy Madigan, Gary Prieto, Max Brill and Parker Loftus with crews Sarah Barkley, Ana Mier, Kent Mathes and Kelly Milliken.

The team is training in Charleston, S.C. this week before returning to Annapolis next weekend for the Graham Hall Team Race at Home and the Washington College Team Race.
