CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Navy women's soccer team continued its hold on the Patriot League's Defensive Player of the Week honor as for the fourth straight week a Midshipmen garnered the conference-wide accolade when Baseley McClaskey (Jr., Grand Junction, Colo.) was announced as the recipient on Monday afternoon. In addition to Navy's fourth straight honor, this is the third consecutive week that McClaskey has taken home the award. She gained notoriety this week for her two goals and one assist combined output against No. 20 USF and Penn.

Tasked with taking on the 20th-ranked team in the nation on Friday night, McClaskey had an immediate hand in Navy going up 1-0 over USF as she lofted a well-struck corner kick into the six-yard box where Alex Jackson met the ball and powered a header crisply into the back of the net in the sixth minute. Two days later, McClaskey accounted for both goals in the Mids' 4-2 loss to Penn. The accurate striker from distance, McClaskey connected for direct free kick goals from outside the 18-yard box on both occasions. She was on the field for all 180 minutes of action over the weekend.

This is the fifth career weekly award for McClaskey and third in-a-row this season. As a team, Navy has collected Patriot League weekly honors in each of the first four weeks of competition in 2018. In addition to McClaskey earning the Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 27 and Sept. 3, fellow defender Kayla Robinson was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 20.
 
After competing in non-conference action for the first month of the season, McClaskey and her Midshipmen teammates will now turn their attention to Patriot League play beginning this weekend with an 11 a.m. tilt at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility against Holy Cross.
