Messinger Promoted to Associate Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach for Offense

Since her arrival in 2017, Navy has posted the best two offensive seasons in school history.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy women's lacrosse assistant coach Aly Messinger has been promoted to associate head coach for offense announced by head coach Cindy Timchal. Messinger has served as an assistant coach for the Midshipmen since 2017.
 
"Thank you to Mr. (Chet) Gladchuk and Cindy (Timchal) for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime to be a part of such a great program and institution," Messinger said. "I am incredibly grateful for the promotion they have provided me and I look forward to a great season ahead."
 
"I am really excited for Aly," Timchal stated. "She has done an amazing job over the past two years running our offense. She is very passionate and loves the game of lacrosse. Aly has made a big difference in our style of play over the past two years. I am excited for her and our entire staff. We have an great staff here at the Naval Academy. Everyone does an amazing job and Aly is a big part of that."
 
Over the past two seasons, Messinger has helped the Midshipmen reach historic heights. Navy has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals each of the last two seasons, and in 2017 became the first women's team from a Service Academy to advance to an NCAA Final Four.
 
Since her arrival in 2017, Navy has posted the best two offensive seasons in school history, recording the top two efforts in points, points per game, goals, assists, assists per game, shots attempted, and shots on goal. In addition, Navy set the school record in goals per game (17.18) and free position goals (78) during the 2018 season. Under Messinger, the team has totaled 1,082 points (541 per year), including 736 goals (368 per year) and 346 assists (173 per year).
