CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –– Navy's
Luke Johnson (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) was announced Tuesday as this week's Patriot League Men's Swimmer of the Week. Johnson received the laurel, the second of his career, for his efforts in helping the Mids to a 158-128 victory over UMBC last Friday.
Johnson began the individual event portion of the meet between the Mids and the Retrievers by winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:24.93. He placed first in the race by 3.23 seconds. He would go on to win the second distance event of the meet, the 500 freestyle, with a clocking of 4:37.29. He touched the wall 3.13 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Both Navy teams will play host to a meet Friday at 4 p.m. in Lejeune Hall. Each team will compete against George Washington, Johns Hopkins and Towson and the women's team will also face Miami (Fla.).
