CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - In recognition of his standout performance in Friday's Cross Country Star Meet at Army, the Mids' team captain Jake Brophy picked up a pair of weekly awards. Brophy was selected by the Patriot League as its M-F Athletic Men's Runner of the Week, while the Naval Academy Athletic Association chose him as its NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman.

Racing in his final Army-Navy Cross Country Star Meet, Brophy made sure it would count as he and fellow senior Kevin Murray scorched the 24-man field with times of 22:57.2 and 23:06.6, respectively. Brophy was the overall winner by 9.4 seconds over Murray, while his closest Army competitor, Ben Petralla, was 30.2 seconds back in third place at 23:27.4. With Brophy leading the way, Navy secured the 27-29 victory over Army.

This is Brophy's fourth Patriot League Runner of the Week honor in 2019 and seventh of his decorated career. This season he's previously won on Oct. 8, Sept. 24 and Sept. 17.

The Mids will be away from competition this weekend before heading to Hamilton, N.Y. for the 2019 Patriot League Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 2.
