ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy sprint football team (3-0, 1-0 CSFL South) continues Collegiate Sprint Football League South Division play in West Caldwell, N.J. as the Midshipmen take on Caldwell (2-1, 1-0 CSFL South) on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at James Caldwell High School.

All-Time Series
Navy holds the all-time series record, 2-0, over Caldwell. The Midshipmen opened the series with a 72-0 victory over the Cougars in 2017 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Last year, Navy posted a 45-14 victory in West Caldwell, N.J.
Postma Repeats as CSFL Defensive Player of the Week
For the second consecutive week, Navy's
David Postma (Bellevue, Wash.) has been named the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Defensive Player of the Week. Postma anchored a defense that helped the Midshipmen post a 28-12 victory on the road against Chestnut Hill to improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the CSFL-South Division.
Postma led the Navy defense with a team-high 14 tackles, including six solo stops and eight assisted tackles. The senior notched a team-high 2.0 tackles for loss for 21 total yards, including a 20-yard sack. He recorded an interception, returning the ball 26 yards to the Chestnut Hill nine-yardline to set up Navy's final touchdown of the game.
For the season, Postma leads the team with 28 total tackles and has at least one take away (fumble recovery and two interceptions) in each game through the first three weeks of the season.

The Navy sprint football team earned its first Collegiate Sprint Football League South Division game, posting a 28-12 victory over Chestnut Hill at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium (Conshohocken Field "A") in Conshohocken, Pa. The Midshipmen improved to 3-0 overall, while the Griffins fell to 2-1 on the season.
Offensively, Navy was led by quarterback
Braydan Chmiel (Warrenton, Mo.). The junior finished the game 6-of-17 for 124 yards and two touchdown passes. Chmiel also tallied 110 yards on the ground on 15 attempts with a score.
Eric Spicer (St. Marys, Ohio) pulled in a pair of receptions for 73 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown catch to lead the Mids.
Walt Fagan (Rock Hill, S.C.) made one reception, but made it count, pulling down an eight-yard TD catch.
Defensively, the Midshipmen were led by
David Postma (Bellevue, Wash.) who finished with 12 total tackles. He was joined by
Adam Weissenfels (Richland, Wash.) and
Nav Seguy (Waltham, Mass.) who registered seven stops apiece.
Senior kicker
Jared Swenson (Seymour, Wis.) was perfect in PATs on the night, going 4-for-4 for four points in the game.
Last Time vs. Caldwell (Oct. 13, 2018)
The Navy sprint football team used a 24-point second quarter to take a commanding lead and cruised to a 45-14 victory on the road against Caldwell at Bonnell Field in West Caldwell, N.J. The Midshipmen used an interception return for a touchdown, a pair of TD passes, and a field goal to take control of the game in the second quarter.
Offensively the Midshipmen tallied 420 yards of total offense, rushing for 229 and passing for 191. Quarterback
Braydan Chmiel (Warrenton, Mo.) finished the game 13-for-20 for 186 yards and four touchdowns, while
Caleb Champion (Milton, Fla.) led the ground attack with 136 yards on 17 carries. Chmiel chipped in 38 yards and a TD on the ground, while
Kaleb Bodily (Logandale, Nev.) and Brennan Means (Highland, Calif.) finished with 42 and 16 yards rushing, respectively.
Stefano Saragusa (Haines City, Fla.),
Jay Cooke (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.),
J.T. Thompson (Stratham, N.H.), and
Jared Wiltshire (Elizabethton, Tenn.) each caught touchdown passes on the day.
Eric Spicer (St. Marys, Ohio) led the way with 43 yards receiving, followed by Saragusa (39), Wiltshire (36), Cooke (30) and Thompson (28).
Defensively, the Mids limited the Cougars to 269 total yards, including just 17 yards on the ground. As a team, Navy recorded 12.0 tackles for loss, including 10.0 sacks.
Troy Monroe (Columbus, Ga.) led the way with 4.5 sacks, while
Gavin O'Donnell (Greenfield Township, Pa.) and
Nick Scalise (Fayetteville, Ark.) finished with two apiece.
Shawn Kluchinsky (Abingdon, Md.) recorded an interception, returning the ball 11 yards for a score.
Mason Hooten (Orlando, Fla.) added a fumble recovery on the defensive side.
Jared Swenson (Seymour, Wis.) was one again perfect on special teams. The place kicker was 6-for-6 on point after touchdowns and converted his lone field goal attempt, hitting from 41 yards.
