ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– A combined 17 members of the Navy swimming and diving teams recorded an individual event victory Saturday during a sweep by the Mids of Patriot League foes American, Bucknell and Lafayette in Lejeune Hall.

The Navy women's team (9-1) posted victories of 254-35 over American (2-4), 213-87 over Bucknell (5-1) and 254-45 over Lafayette (0-4). Navy's men's squad (8-2) tallied wins of 182-66 over American (0-6), 175.5-109.5 over Bucknell (5-1) and 184-84 over Lafayette (1-3).

Seven different Navy women's swimmers and divers won at least one individual event during the meet. Winning two swimming events were
Ashley Boddiford (Jr., Oviedo, Fla.) and
Sydney Harrington (So., Fairfax, Va). Boddiford posted a time of 56.58 to win the 100 back by 13-hundredths of a second and recorded an effort of 200.49 to win the 200 back by 1.53 seconds. Harrington would first win the 200 fly by 3.78 seconds with her time of 1:59.62, then she would be the victor in the 200 individual medley by 2.69 seconds thanks to her clocking of 2:04.68.

"It was a good day for Navy," said Navy women's swimming head coach
John Morrison. "I was very proud of the energy and fight in the first portion of the meet, but we need to work on better managing the same energy during the second half. Overall, there were some great in-season performances in both swimming and diving. I'm proud of the fight we displayed in the last two events."

Winning two events for the Navy men's team were swimmer
Luke Johnson (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) and diver
Bradley Buchter (Sr., Hickory, N.C.). Johnson claimed wins in each of the two distance freestyle races. He would win the 1000 free by 12 seconds with his time of 9:24.06 and was the top swimmer in the 500 free with his time of 4:34.32. Johnson won the 500 free by 1.21 seconds.

Buchter topped 400 points in winning each of the two boards and had a combined margin of victory of 191.55 points. He scored 440.15 points to win the one-meter board and accrued 405.80 points to win the three-meter event.

"I'm really pleased with the way we raced and competed today," said Navy men's swimming head coach
Bill Roberts. "Like everyone else, we are in a really challenging training stretch right now and I am very proud of the way the team is responding.Â
