Miles Named First-Team Academic All-American

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy's Paige Miles (Sr., Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been named a First-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the sport of volleyball.  CoSIDA made the announcement of the sport's seven first-team honorees and 21 overall recipients on Monday.

Miles was eligible for the national ballot after she received first-team all-district honors in November.  The requirements for the district award include being at least a sophomore academically and posting a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30.

Miles has compiled a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average at Navy.  The quantitative economics major is ranked first in the USNA's Class of 2020 on the Academic Order of Merit and stands second on the Overall Order of Merit.  She received Navy submarines for her service assignment.

She led the Patriot League in assists during the 2019 league campaign with 615 helpers and stood second with an average of 9.92 assists per set.  Miles also ranked fourth against league foes in both aces (19) and aces per set (0.31 saps).  Including all matches this season, Miles ranked third in the league (and 90th nationally) with 1,053 assists, fourth with an average of 9.49 assists per set, third with her 0.32 aces-per-set average and fourth with 36 aces.

Her 1,053 assists this season ranks seventh at Navy during the program's NCAA Division I era (since 1991) and third during the rally scoring era (since 2001).  Miles also ranks 10th at Navy overall and sixth among rally scoring players with 1,451 career assists.

Miles is the fourth Navy volleyball player to earn Academic All-America honors.  Cheryl Dolyniuk was a first-team selection for the 1982 season, Rachel Dougherty received second-team accolades in 2007 and Patricia Mattingly garnered the award in both 2017 (third team) and 2018 (second team).

Additionally, Miles is the fourth Patriot League volleyball player to earn first-team Academic All-America laurels and is the first to do so in 11 seasons.

Her sister, Sydney, was a 2015 CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-American in volleyball during her senior season at Emory.
