ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 13 Navy women's lacrosse team (7-2, 2-0 Patriot League) hits the road for a Patriot League game at Lehigh (4-5, 0-2 PL) on Wednesday evening at Frank Banko Field in Bethlehem, Pa. The game is slated for 5:00 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available for the game.
All-Time Series
The game between Navy and Lehigh will mark the 17th meeting between the two programs. Navy is 12-4 (.750) all-time against Lehigh. The Mids are 4-2 against the Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem, but 8-2 all-time away from Annapolis.
Last season, the Mids and Mountain Hawks faced off two times. The Midshipmen won the regular-season battle, 18-7, in Annapolis. In the rematch in the Patriot League Semifinals, Navy posted a 20-5 win against Lehigh in Baltimore.
In the last meeting the two teams in Bethlehem, Navy notched a 16-9 victory. Then sophomore
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) scored a career-high seven goals to lead the Midshipmen to victory.
Scouting the Midshipmen
This season,
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) leads the team with 51 points, scoring team-best 30 goals and boasting a team-high 21 assists.
Kayla Harris (Annapolis, Md.) is second with 26 points thanks to 19 goals scored and seven helpers.
Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.),
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.),
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.),
Moriah Snyder (Bel Air, Md.), and
Marina Lazarides (Westminster, Md.) are also in double-figure points with 25 (13g 12a), 22 (17g 4a), 18 (13g 5a), 11 (8g 3a), and 10 (7g 3a), respectively.
Roelofs leads the team with 43 total draws, while Heyward is second with 40. Harris is third with 29, and O'Sullivan rounds out the double-digit draws with 18. Heyward and
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) pace the team with 15 caused turnovers apiece.
Defensively, goalie
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has logged just under 450 of the 540 minutes between the pipes for the Midshipmen. This season, she is 6-2, including a victory over a ranked opponent. The senior has made 50 stops and is second on the team with 24 ground balls, while adding nine caused turnovers. Valenti paces the team with 26 ground balls.
Scouting the Opponent
Lehigh is coming off a 13-6 defeat at No. 11 Loyola on Saturday, a game which saw the Mountain Hawks outscore the Greyhounds 5-4 over the middle stages of the game to pull back within 10-6, but the Mountain Hawks couldn't get any closer. Lehigh stands 4-5 on the season, 0-2 in Patriot League play with seven more league contests still remaining.
On Saturday, Loyola jumped out to a 6-1 lead before Lehigh responded with five of the next seven goals. Autumn Ryan scored three times in that stretch, good for her second straight hat trick and third this season. Kellie Gough and Sondra Dickey scored back-to-back goals at 18:46 and 15:07 of the second half to pull the Mountain Hawks within four, but the Greyhounds scored the game's final three goals for the 13-6 final.
Samantha Sagi stood tall in goal, making 13 saves – her fourth straight game in double figures and sixth this season through nine contests. For the season, Sagi owns a 49.7 save percentage, good for 18th nationally.
Last Time vs. Lehigh (May 4, 2018)
The No. 10 Navy women's lacrosse team posted a 20-5 victory over Lehigh on Friday night to advance to the Patriot League Championship for the eighth time in school history and the fourth consecutive year.
Offensively,
Julia Collins (Clarksville, Md.) led the Mids with five goals and two assists, while
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) had four assists to go with one goal.
Jenna Collins (Clarksville, Md.) recorded her 16th hat trick of the season with a five-point effort (3g 2a), while
Natalie Irwin (Annandale, Va.) tallied her first collegiate hat trick with three goals.
With her two assists,
Jenna Collins became the first player in Navy women's lacrosse history with 200 or more goals and 100 or more assists. The senior now has 214 career goals with 100 career assists for 314 career points. Larkin's four helpers in the game gave the sophomore 100 for her career. She joined
Jenna Collins as the second and third players in Navy history with 100 or more assists. The duo trail only Jasmine DePompeo (2010-13) who holds the all-time school record with 167 assists.
Defensively,
Ingrid Boyum (Herndon, Va.) had six saves to pick up her 14th victory of the season.
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) picked up three ground balls, and
Andie O'Sullivan (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) paced the team with seven draw controls. The defense held Lehigh to just five goals, marking the fifth consecutive game that the Navy back line has held an opponent to single-digit goals.
Last Time Out
The No. 14 Navy women's lacrosse team put forth a total team effort in order to notch a 17-4 victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen saw nine players combined for 17 goals on the day, while the defense held the Bison offense to four goals and 21 turnovers.
The Navy defense was stout holding the Bucknell offense to four goals on 17 total shots. The Bison committed 21 turnovers on the day, including seven caused turnovers by the Mids' defense. Seven different players finished with a caused turnover for Navy, including senior captain
Marie Valenti (Bechtelsville, Pa.) whose CT with 8:52 remaining in the game gave her 100 for her career, making her the sixth player in Patriot League history with 100 or more caused turnovers. In addition, the defense helped facilitate the offense, helping the Midshipmen convert 19-of-21 clear attempts.
The defense held Bucknell from scoring for over 38 minutes (38:19) between the first and second halves.
Gab Harchelroad (Pittsburgh, Pa.) surrendered two goals in the first half, working 30 minutes between the pipes with a pair of saves. In the second half, Navy used three goalies –
Abbi Young (Alamo, Calif.),
Lindsey Ellison (Arlington, Va.), and
Maddy Bell (Winter Park, Fla.) – who combined for a pair of saves and a pair of goals allowed.
In the draw, circle, Navy won 19-of-20 draw controls. The one draw the Midshipmen did not win came as Navy was whistled for moving early. Freshman

Annalise Heyward (Charlotte, N.C.) added five draws.
Offensively, nine different players scored at least one goal with five players notching multiple goals on the day.
Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) and
Moriah Snyder (Bel Air, Md.) each recorded hat tricks with Larkin netting four goals and Snyder tallying three. For Snyder, it was her first collegiate hat trick.
