ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  Navy's Chad Deegan (Jr / Newport Beach, Calif.) and Ward Wilkinson (Sr / Ashland, Va.) both finished under par to lead the Navy men's golf team to a 356-367 victory over Towson Saturday afternoon at the Naval Academy Golf Course. Saturday's match not only marked the first team-scored competition for both programs, it also was the first collegiate event held following the re-opening of the newly-restored golf course.

A 2019 All-Patriot League performer, Deegan birdied his first three holes en route to earning individual medalist honors with a 2-under par 68. Meanwhile Wilkinson, one of four seniors on the squad for Navy, covered 18 holes with a 1-under par 69. He relied upon his clutch putting throughout the day, while one of his highlights of the afternoon was when he birdied the par-3 12th, playing 235 yards.

Team captain Charlie Musto (Sr / Sterling, Va.), who holed out from the bunker on the 12th for birdie, took fourth in the competition with a 1-over par 71. Rounding out the scoring for the Mids were Nicholas Klock (Jr / Moraga, Calif.) in sixth with a 73 and Keegan Shreves (So / Potomac, Md.) in ninth with a 75. While only the top five scores for each team counted, Will Meshad (So / Atlanta, Ga.), David Miccoli (Jr / Ludlow, Mass.) and Braxton Tracy (So / Huntersville, N.C.) also competed for Navy.

Towson was led by junior Justin Griffith who shot par (70) and placed third, while second-year standout and Olney, Md. product Brad Riley finished 2-over for fifth. Rookie Branden Nguyen and senior Jackson Courtney closed out the top-10 scoring for the Tigers, as the duo both shot a 4-over 74 to tie for seventh.
