Weekly Rewind
vs. Old Dominion
Navy won four of the final five matches to overcome a nine-point deficit and knot the match (15-15) against Old Dominion (8-9, 4-2 MAC) last Friday at Alumni Hall in Annapolis. The Monarchs, however, were awarded the win based on the third criteria (criteria c) which is the total match points scored only from decisions, major decisions and technical falls - Old Dominion 41, Navy 29.

Down 12-3 midway through the match, Navy staged its comeback beginning at 125 pounds. With both wrestlers having earned a point for an escape, first-year Navy starter Logan Treaster proved to be the aggressor at the right time. Treaster scored the match-winning takedown in the final seconds of the bout while holding off a potential reversal to cap a 3-1 victory over 15th-ranked Killian Cardinale. The win snapped Cardinale's five-match winning streak, while Treaster earned his 20th win of the season. Cardinale is also the highest-ranked wrestler Treaster has beaten in his three seasons at Navy.

The Mids continued to climb back in the match when 133-pound Casey Cobb secured a 3-1 victory in sudden victory over freshman Shannon Hanna. With the match deadlocked at one apiece, Cobb made his move just 18 seconds into the extra frame, scoring the match-winning takedown for the decision.

Navy won its third straight bout and knotted the match at 12 apiece when 141-pound Cody Trybus outmuscled redshirt senior Sa'Derian Perry, 3-2. Trybus, who has now won six of his last seven matches including four straight, joined Treaster in the 20-win club as he now stands 20-9 this season.

ODU redshirt senior Kenan Carter put the Monarchs back on top (15-12) following his 7-2 victory over Wyatt Long, setting up one of the most exciting bouts of the evening featuring three-time NCAA qualifier Jared Prince and 10th-ranked Larry Early of ODU. The match brought plenty of gasps from the fans as both wrestlers managed to elude what looked to be sure takedowns by one another. Prince eventually winded Early, who came into the match having won 12 of his last 13 bouts, and took advantage of it in the third period. Prince scored the match-winning takedown and even look to get back points before the match came to a close with Prince upsetting Early, 3-2, and tying the team score at 15-all.
