ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Derrick Thompson (So., Towson, Md.) recorded three victories during a pair of wins by the Navy men's tennis team over Villanova and Morgan State Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.  The Mids (11-3) posted a 6-1 victory over the Wildcats (3-3) and a 4-0 win over the Bears (3-1).
 
Thompson teamed with Andrew Ton (Jr., Milpitas, Calif.) for two wins at No. 1 doubles.  The pairing first won a 6-1 decision over its counterparts from Villanova before tallying a 6-2 victory over Morgan State.  Thompson would also notch a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles in Navy's latter match against the Bears.
 
Winning a pair of matches on the day were Ton, Christian Pumpelly (Fr., Atlanta, Ga.), Gavin Segraves (Fr., Charlottesville, Va.), Matthew Lee (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) and Reilly Wilson (Fr., Greensboro, N.C.).
 
Pumpelly and Segraves began the day by winning a 6-3 match at No. 2 doubles against Villanova.  Pumpelly later paired with Wilson for a 6-3 win in the match against Morgan State, with Wilson also recording a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles against Villanova.  Lee and Andres Ballesteros (Fr., West Hartford, Conn.) won a 6-3 decision at No. 3 doubles over the Wildcats and won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles against the Bears.
 
In all, 11 Mids won at least one match on the day.
 
Navy will be back in action Feb. 29 with matches at Yale and at Drexel.
