ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– One day after losing both matches of a split doubleheader, the Navy men's team resumed its winning ways by posting a pair of victories Sunday.  The Mids (13-5) recorded a 7-0 victory over Howard (0-5) in Annapolis and defeated NJIT (1-6), 5-2, in Newark, N.J.
 
Navy lost just one game in winning the first two doubles matches to finish to win the point from Howard.  The No. 2 team of Jan Kjellberg (So., White Plains, N.Y.) and Reilly Wilson (Fr., Greensboro, N.C.) didn't give up a game, then the No. 3 tandem of Andres Ballesteros (Fr., West Hartford, Conn.) and Conners O'Brien (So., Rensselaer, N.Y.) lost just one game to give the Mids the point.
 
Navy then won each of the six singles matches in straight sets to record the victory.  In only one of the six matches did a Mid give up more than three games.
 
It was a much tighter match in Newark, but Navy again prevailed in the doubles matches.  Jack Dabek (So., Dublin, Ohio) and Greg Durham (Sr., Melbourne Beach, Fla.) recorded a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, then Derrick Thompson (So., Towson, Md.) and Andrew Ton (Jr., Milpitas, Calif.) posted a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 flight to secure the point.
 
Thompson increased the lead to 2-0 with his 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.  Ton made the score 3-0 with his 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 1 flight.  After a win by the Highlanders at No. 3 singles, Jake Fishkin (So., Baltimore, Md.) gave the Mids their match-clinching fourth team point when he tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
 
Navy's last point came when Finn Garner (Fr., Arnold, Md.) won a 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 contest at No. 4 singles.
 
The Mids will play host to Wagner and Temple on Saturday in Annapolis.
