ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy's
Luke Johnson (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) received an invitation to compete in the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship on Wednesday. Johnson will compete in three events at the March 26-28 meet being held in Indianapolis, Ind.
Johnson received the invitation by virtue of his posting the 18th-fastest time in the 1650 freestyle this season, an effort of 14:52.11. He also will compete in the 500 freestyle and the 400 individual medley events at the meet. Johnson is seeded 43rd in the 500 free with his time of 4:18.50 and 39th with his 400 IM clocking of 3:47.90.
This is the fourth year in a row and the ninth time since 2009 in which Navy has sent at least one swimmer or diver to the NCAA men's championship.
Johnson was one of the 13 Navy swimmers to attain at least one NCAA B cut time this season. That group of 13 Mids collectively recorded 25 B cut times.
The remaining nine Patriot League programs combined for eight B cut times.
