Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy is beginning its 115th season of basketball Tuesday night.
2 – Navy and Virginia met two years ago in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers posted a 65-56 victory over the Mids that day. Navy was within one point, 41-40, when Virginia went on a 12-0 run.
3 – The Mids are starting the season with three-straight games against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The last time Navy faced three teams from the ACC at any point in a single season was in the 1968-69 campaign.
4 – Navy is facing a nationally-ranked team for the sixth time under head coach

• Navy holds a 32-14 advantage in the all-time series with Virginia.
• The teams first met, Feb. 5, 1910, in Annapolis. Navy posted a 51-6 victory in that game.
• Virginia has won each of the last eight games played in the series, dating back to the 1967-68 season.
• Navy's last win came on Feb. 5, 1967, in Annapolis.
• The Cavaliers hold a 7-1 advantage in games played in Charlottesville. Navy's only road win in the series came on Jan. 9, 1932, in what was the first game played in the series outside of Annapolis.
• The teams met fairly regularly from the 1929-30 through the 1973-74 seasons. After that span, the teams have met during the 2013-14 and 2019-20 seasons.
