BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Following a 3-1 weekend, Navy water polo swept the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) athlete of the week honors as announced by the League office.
Isaac Salinas (Spring City, Pa.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while
Max Sandberg (Newport Beach, Calif.) repeated as Defensive Player of the Week. Freshman
Caden Capobianco (Laguna Beach, Calif.) was tabbed the Rookie of the Week.
Navy posted a 3-1 record over the weekend. After being edged by #10 Bucknell, 12-11 in overtime, the Midshipmen posted three consecutive victories, defeating the Bison (W, 15-5), La Salle (W, 14-5), and Iona (W, 19-6).
Offensive Player of the Week:
Isaac Salinas
Led Navy with 15 goals scored on the weekend, including three hat tricks ... Scored eight of the team's 11 goals in the Mids' 12-11 overtime loss to #10 Bucknell on Saturday, including seven goals in the second half and overtime ... Fell one goal shy of tying the school record for goals scored in a game (9) – a record he tied last season ... Scored three goals in Navy's 14-5 road victory over La Salle ... Registered four goals in the Mids' 19-6 win over Iona in Philadelphia ... In addition, recorded five steals on the weekend and had five ejections drawn.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Max Sandberg
Went 2-0 at goal for the Midshipmen ... In two games, recorded 19 saves compared to 10 goals allowed, while adding four steals and a pair of assists ... Opened the weekend with a 15-5 victory over #10 Bucknell ... Recorded four saves, while holding the potent Bison offense to just five goals ... In addition, registered three steals and a pair of assists in the game ... Helped Navy to a 14-5 road win over La Salle on Sunday ... Notched 15 saves while allowing only five goals against the Explorers, while adding a steal.
Rookie of the Week:

Helped Navy to a 19-6 road win over Iona in Philadelphia on Sunday ... Notched 8 saves while allowing only six goals against the Gaels, while adding three assists and three steals.
