Just one day shy of graduating from the United States Naval Academy, senior goalkeeper Spencer Rees (Baltimore, Md.) has become the 276th different Navy lacrosse player to earn All-America honors it was announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday afternoon. Rees, a 2021 honorable mention selection, was one of 99 Div. I student-athletes named to the first, second, third or honorable mention teams with Navy now securing an All-American in 95 of the 99 years in which the awards have been handed out.

As a first-year starter, Rees finished the 2021 campaign with a 9.88 goals-against average that stands 18th nationally, while his 58.9 save percentage is third and his 14.00 saves per game ranks fifth. Meanwhile as a team, the Mids were the nation's 11th-ranked scoring defense (10.00 GPG), while their man-down squad stopped 20 of the 29 extra-man opportunities (69.0) to rank 23rd.

Rees is the 28th different Navy goalkeeper to earn All-America recognition (account for 48 citations) and the first since RJ Wickham was tabbed an honorable mention selection in 2010.

Spencer Rees is the third Rees brother to not only play lacrosse for the Mids, but also garner All-America recognition, joining Matt, who was a two-time Third-Team All-American (2016, '17), and Casey, who was an honorable mention selection in 2016. The Rees' are just the ninth set of 3 or more brothers to garner Div. I All-America recognition since 1922 and only the fifth to play at the same school. They join the Deskos, Hauses, Kemps, McGeeneys, Peysers, Powells, Stanwicks and Thompsons.
