Navy’s Davis Earns Academic All-America Honor

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy men's basketball player Cam Davis (Battlefield, Mo.) was named a Third-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) today.

Davis is the fourth Navy men's basketball player to receive Academic All-America honors and the first since Cliff Maurer (honorable mention) in 1984.  Navy's additional honorees are Hugh Kilmartin in 1968 (third team) and Kevin Sinnett in 1978 (second team) and 1979 (third team).

Additionally, Davis is the first Patriot League men's basketball player to garner the laurel since Bucknell's Mike Muscala in 2013 (third team).  He is the seventh Patriot League men's basketball player to receive Academic All-America accolades.

Davis, a member of Class of 2021 who on Thursday received the Thompson Trophy Cup for being the varsity athlete who did the most for the promotion of athletics at Navy, graduated with a 3.43 cumulative grade-point average.  The ocean engineering major will continue his studies this summer as he received a scholarship to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology / Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute Joint Master's program.  Davis will study on the Applied Ocean Science and Engineering track.

On the court, Davis earned First-Team All-Patriot League honors this season after he led the Mids to 15-3 overall record and a 12-1 mark in league regular season games.  He led the Mids in both scoring (17.1 ppg) and assists (2.7 apg) this year, a feat he also accomplished during the 2019-20 season when he received a second-team all-league nod.  Davis ended his career ranked 20th at Navy with 1,215 career points.
