ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy's men's basketball player
Cam Davis (Sr., Battlefield, Mo.) has earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) for the second year in a row. The announcement of the five-player all-district team was made Thursday afternoon.
Davis and each of the all-district players from across the country (eight districts in all) now advance to voting for the organization's Academic All-America team.
Nominees needed to be at least a sophomore academically at their school and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher.
NCAA Division I schools located Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington, D.C., comprise CoSIDA's District II.
In the classroom, Davis has compiled a 3.46 cumulative grade-point average as an ocean engineering major. Davis will continue his academic work upon graduating from Navy this spring as he was selected for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology / Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (MIT / WHOI) Joint Master's in Oceanography Program. There, he will work toward a graduate degree in applied ocean science and engineering.
He previously was named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the second time in as many years.
On the court, Davis received First-Team All-Patriot League accolades this season as he led the Mids in both scoring (17.1 ppg) and assists (2.7 apg) for the second year in a row. He helped Navy post a 12-1 record during the league campaign to earn the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and a 15-3 record overall.
Davis concluded his career ranked 20th in scoring at Navy with 1,215 points.
