ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Earning the honor for the second-consecutive week, Navy junior golfer
Mara Hirtle was named the Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.
Hirtle finished atop the player leaderboard at this past weekend's JEL Outer Banks Women's Intercollegiate, held at the Duck Woods Country Club in Kitty Hawk, N.C. She shot three-straight rounds of 5-over par 77 to post a 54-hole score of 15-over par 231, one stroke ahead of sophomore teammate
Bridget Hoang.
Hirtle and Hoang helped lead the Midshipmen to a first-place finish in the team standings, as Navy combined for a 68-over par 932 and placed first for the second-straight weekend after winning the Navy Fall Invitational on Oct. 2.
Hirtle earned co-weekly league honors last Wednesday alongside junior classmate
Stephanie Lee, as the pair shot identical 8-over par 152 scores to tie for sixth place at the Navy Fall Invitational.
A Pinehurst, N.C. native, Hirtle has now been named Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week five times in her collegiate career, winning the award three times last season.
Navy travels to the Lady Blue Hen Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, being held at the Rehoboth Country Club in Rehoboth, Del.
