All-Time Series
Navy holds the all-time series record, 47-38-1 (.552). The Midshipmen are 20-16 (.556) against the Black Knights in Annapolis. This season, the two teams met in September with Navy claiming a 27-13 victory in Annapolis.
The Midshipmen and the Black Knights have met in the CSFL Championship game the last three times it was contested with the Mids claiming a pair of titles.
2022 CSFL Championship
With a 41-0 victory over Alderson Broaddus, Navy clinched the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) South Division and secured a spot in the 2022 CSFL Championship game. Since the League split into divisions in 2017, Navy has played in three CSFL Championship games (2018, '19, '21), winning a pair of titles (2018, '21), while Army has played in all four championship games with a pair of titles (2017, '19).
Atwood Earns CSFL Offensive Player of the Week Honors (Nov. 7, 2022)
The CSFL announced its weekly award winners and Navy quarterback
Brandon Atwood (Gentry, Ark.) was tabbed CSFL Offensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Midshipmen to a 43-14 road victory over Mansfield. Atwood accounted for three of Navy's five offensive touchdowns, rushing for a pair of scores and passing for a third TD. The quarterback finished the game 11-for-14 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for two TDs. The junior opened the scoring for Navy with an eight-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Atwood added a 25-yard touchdown pass to
Andrew Margiotta (Vienna, Va.) just before halftime to give the Mids a two-score edge at intermission. Atwood capped his day with a 15-yard TD run in the third quarter, helping cement the victory.
Last Time Out: at Mansfield (Nov. 5, 2022):
Navy concluded the regular season with a 43-14 road victory over Mansfield at Karl Van Norman Field in Mansfield, Pa. The Midshipmen held the Mountaineers scoreless in the second half, while causing a pair of turnovers, including one for a score, in the final two quarters.
Defensively, the Midshipmen held the Mountaineers to a pair of touchdowns. Navy finished with five tackles for loss, including a pair of sacks. The Midshipmen intercepted a pass, returning it 63 yards for a touchdown, while also picking up a fumble and returning 45 yards deep into Mountaineer territory.
Paul Kuehler (Roanoke, Va.) led the team with six tackles, while
Dante Carrasco (Germantown, Tenn.) added five stops. Carrasco,
Jordan Richard (Marietta, Ga.),
Jonathan Swift (Philadelphia, Pa.),
Devyn Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.), and
Andrew Bailey (Annapolis, Md.) each finished with a tackle for loss apiece with Swift and Martin registering sacks.
Lane Condie (Lovelock, Nev.) picked up a fumble and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown, while
Trent Parker (Washington, D.C.) added a 63-yard interception return. Martin, Condie, and
Tyler Meisenzahl (Charles Town, W.Va.) were each credited with pass breakups in the game.
Offensively, the two teams played nearly even with the Mids edge the Mountaineers, 368-339 in total yards. Navy paved the way on the ground, outgaining Mansfield, 212-123, but the home team held a 216-156 advantage in the passing game.
Alex Totta (Kansas City, Kan.) led the charge for the Midshipmen on the ground. The senior tallied 160 yards on 24 carries (6.7 yards per carry) with a pair of touchdowns.
Cephas McKinney (Nokesville, Va.) added 4.2 yards per carry on six rushes with
Victor Otero (Acton, Mass.) posting 2.8 yards per rush on six carries. Quarterback
Brandon Atwood (Gentry, Ark.) also added a pair of rushing scores.
Atwood finished the game 11-for-14 for 146 yards and a touchdown, while
Luke Wagner (Edmond, Okla.) was 1-for-2 for 10 yards.
Andrew Margiotta (Vienna, Va.) led the way with five receptions for 105 yards (21 yards per catch) with a touchdown.
Mychal Golden (Jonesboro, Ark.) was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts, while
Jobe Long (Bay City, Mich.) connected with Totta on a two-point conversion.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy used a pair of defensive touchdowns to help post a 27-13 victory over rival Army at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to earn the first Star of the 2022-23 academic year in the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.
Mitchell Waters (Brooklet, Ga.) registered a fumble recovery for a score, while
Lane Condie (Lovelock, Nev.) returned an interception for a touchdown in the win.
The win marked the first victory for Navy over Army in Annapolis since 2016 (W, 10-3). The victory was the third consecutive for the Midshipmen in the series, marking the longest win streak for Navy since the Mids won 11 in a row from 2004 to 2009. It was the largest margin of victory for Navy since posting a 24-10 win over Army in the 2018 CSFL Championship, while it was the most points scored for the Midshipmen since a 27-7 win in 2014.
The Navy defense scored a pair of touchdowns, while limiting the potent Army offense to just one offensive touchdown and a pair of field goals. The Midshipmen allowed 180 yards on 34 carries, while limiting the Black Knight quarterback Mikal Willeke to 226 yards on 27-for-50 passing with a pair of interceptions.
Jack Costigan (Middletown, N.J.) led the way with 13 total tackles, including a half a sack and a tackle for loss. He was followed by
Major Kent (Dallas, Texas) and
Dante Carrasco (Germantown, Tenn.) who finished with 11 and 10 stops, respectively.
David Niski (Shelton, Conn.) led the team with 2.5 sacks, while
Paul Kuehler (Roanoke, Va.) added a sack and
Devyn Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) was credited with 1.5 TFLs. In addition to Waters' fumble recovery and Condie's interception,
Nadir Emlemdi (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded the only other turnover, picking off a pass for his second INT in as many games.
Offensively, the Mids tallied 154 yards with senior captain
Alex Totta (Kansas City, Kan.) leading the way with 74 yards on the ground. Quarterback
Brandon Atwood (Gentry, Ark.) added 56 yards on the ground, including a 40-yard jaunt late in the game. Atwood finished 8-for-17 for 76 yards passing with a touchdown.
Andrew Margiotta (Vienna, Va.) led the team with 38 yards on four receptions, while Totta added a pair of catches for 14 yards.
Carter Mullikin (Cumming, Ga.) made the most of his one reception, taking the 12-yard pass into the end zone.
Mychal Golden (Jonesboro, Ark.) remained perfect on the season, going 5-for-5 in kicks on the night. He converted all three PAT attempts, while adding a pair of field goals. He was true on field goals of 37 and 22 yards.
Sprint Football Tradition
The Navy sprint football team has 38 Collegiate Sprint Football League championships (31 outright) in the program's 76-year history – the most among any school in league history. The team boasts an all-time winning percentage of .835 with an all-time record of 394-74-9, including an 17-1 (.944) mark in CSFL South Division play (divisions started in 2017).
