CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Navy offshore sailing team started its spring schedule with a victory at the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta, hosted by the College of Charleston over the weekend.
The Midshipmen have now won the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta three times in the last four seasons.
The Mids took first place in each of the four races in the event to earn the overall title, led by the crew of skipper
Gary Munsell (Sr., Healdsburg, Calif.) along with
Luke Gillcrist (Sr., Fallbrook, Calif.),
Megan Caraher (Sr., West Sayville, N.Y.),
Keegan Steele (Sr., Utica, N.Y.),
Kelly White (Sr., Queens, N.Y.),
Lauren Breitinger (Sr., Severna Park, Md.),
Javier Jimenez Kane (So., Malaga, Spain) and
Langston Goldenberg (Fr., New Orleans, La.).
Navy took the top spot in the A-Division with four points followed by Clemson (12 points) and Rhode Island (12 points) who tied for second. Rounding out the field was the Merchant Marine Academy (14 points) and Michigan (18 points).

Following their victory in Charleston, the Midshipmen are slated to return to action March 11-13 as they travel to take part in the Harbor Cup hosted in Los Angeles, Calif.
