Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy has played back-to-back game that have been decided by one point for the sixth time in school history and the first since Feb. 11-14, 2015. Additionally, Navy's last three games have been decided by a total of four points. That ties the school record for the fewest points deciding three-consecutive games. It last occurred Jan. 6-13, 1979, and has now been accomplished four times.
2 – The last six Navy-Lafayette games to be played in Annapolis have been decided by a total of 26 points. The largest margin of victory for either team in this span is eight points.
3 – The last time Navy and Lafayette met on national television was Feb. 16, 2008, when CSTV aired the 82-80 win by the Mids in Bethlehem, Pa.
4 – Lafayette head coach Fran O'Hanlon and Navy head coach
Ed DeChellis rank first and second, respectively, among active Patriot League head coaches in career games as a head coach. Now in his 27th –– and final –– season, O'Hanlon has been a head coach for 784 games and DeChellis, in his 26th season, has been a head coach for 771 games.
5 – DeChellis leads active Patriot League head coaches with 363 career wins and O'Hanlon ranks second with 358 career victories.
Series History
• Navy leads the all-time series with Lafayette by the count of 53-34.
• The Mids defeated the Leopards, 30-23, on Jan. 10, 1920, in Annapolis, in what was the first meeting between the teams.
• Navy holds a 37-14 advantage in games played in Annapolis. This includes a 19-11 lead in games played in Alumni Hall.
• Navy narrowly leads by a 30-29 count in league regular season games played between the teams.
• Navy leads Lafayette, 17-12, in Patriot League regular season games played in Annapolis. This includes a 16-11 lead in league games played in Alumni Hall.
Accessing the USNA
The USNA is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors must either walk through one of the security gates or ride the shuttle bus. Whether walking on or riding the shuttle bus, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver's license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The shuttle will depart from the blue (west) side parking lot at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium starting one hour before tip. Enter the lot off of Taylor Avenue (south side of the stadium). There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle. The shuttle will depart from and return to the bus stop next to the Blue Angel jet.
COVID-19 Policy
As per Department of Defense regulations, those who have not been vaccinated must wear a mask at all times when on the USNA grounds and those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors but must wear a mask while indoors. Additionally, masks must be worn by everyone regardless of vaccination status while riding the shuttle bus.
