Jimmy Stobs Takes the Reins of Navy Men’s Golf Program, Team Set to Compete at Inaugural Folds of Honor Collegiate

After opening the 2022 campaign two weeks ago with a 12th-place finish at The Doc Gimmler, the Navy men's golf team returns to action this week when it travels to Grand Haven, Mich. to compete in the inaugural Folds of Honor Collegiate. Hosted by the Folds of Honor Foundation, Michigan State and the Golf Coaches Association of America, the three-day 54-hole event is slated to begin on Monday at the American Dunes Golf Club (par-72, 7,213 yards). Monday's opening round begins at 9:30 am with teams teeing off from the 1st and 10th holes. Navy will be playing alongside Clemson and Eastern Michigan in the opening round.

The Field
• Navy is among an 18-team field that includes the host, Michigan State, along with Air Force, Arizona, Army, Central Michigan, Clemson, Eastern Michigan, Florida State, Grand Valley State, Illinois, Kansas, Liberty, NC State, Oregon State, Texas Southern, UCLA and Virginia Union.
• Annually, the tournament will feature two HBCU programs. This reflects the 41 percent of Folds of Honor recipients that are minorities and the GCAA and Black Golf Coaches Association of America partnership to help grow opportunities for HBCU and black college golf.

The Course
• American Dunes Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course that is a tribute to the military and commemorates the birthplace of Folds of Honor.
• The facility, which is located a few hundred yards from the east shore of Lake Michigan, is a dunes-like course, utilizing the dramatic local topography and sand base that covers the property.
• The course is a par 72 that measures 7,213 yards and has rolling and generous fairways.
