ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The 2023 dual-match season for the Navy men's tennis team begins Saturday when the Mids play a pair of matches at Dartmouth. The Mids and the Big Green will meet at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Boss Tennis Center in Hanover, N.H.
Navy Update
Christian Pumpelly (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) led the Mids during the fall individual event portion of the season with nine singles wins. That bettered the seven singles wins posted by
Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.).
Herrick Legaspi (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) recorded the best winning percentage in singles with his 6-1 record (.857).
Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) ended the fall with a team-best eight doubles victories. He finished one win ahead of both
Matthew McNair (Fr., Annapolis, Md.) and
Caleb Miller's (Fr., Akron, Ohio) total of seven wins. McNair and Miller paced the Mids in doubles winning percentage with their identical records of 7-3 (.700).
Dartmouth Preview
The Big Green posted a 9-12 overall record and a 1-6 mark against Ivy League foes last season.
Series History
Navy holds a 31-23 advantage in the all-time series with Dartmouth. The teams met annually from 1958-98, but didn't play again until 2020. The Big Green won the most recent match by the score of 6-1.
