ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team split a doubleheader Saturday at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis as the Mids (3-3) posted a 6-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn (0-2) and lost a 4-3 decision to Georgetown (3-2).

The Mids took a 1-0 lead thanks to two quick doubles victories.  Luke Garner (So., Arnold, Md.) and Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.) did not lose a game in winning their match at the No. 1 flight.  Herrick Legaspi (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) and Christian Pumpelly (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) secured the point with their 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The lead grew to 2-0 when Aniketh Ayinala (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Luis Foix Sotos at No. 3 singles.  Pumpelly followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 flight against Lucas Foix Sotos.  J.J. Etterbeek (Fr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) clinched the match with his 6-2, 7-5 win over Lucas Deliano at No. 2 singles.

Navy vs. Georgetown
The Mids swept the three doubles matches, with the score in each being 6-4 and each finishing at about the same time.

The Hoyas tied the match at 1-1 when Arthur O'Sullivan won a 6-1, 6-3 match against Garner at No. 3 singles, then took a 2-1 lead thanks to a 6-4, 6-4 victory by Jake Fellows over Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) at No. 2 singles.  Panyan followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kieran Foster at the No. 1 flight, but a win by Adhvyte Sharma over Etterbeek at No. 5 singles made the score 3-2 in favor of the Hoyas.

Georgetown won the match when Zamaan Moledina defeated Legaspi, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4 singles.  The remaining match saw Ayinala defeat Akira Morgenstern, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 6 singles.
