Senior quarterback Tai Lavatai has been named to the Comeback Player of the Year Watch List presented by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
Â
Lavatai is one of four players from the American Athletic Conference on the list joining linebacker Nikhai Green-Hill of Charlotte, running back Rahjai Harris of East Carolina and running back Anthony Watkins of Tulsa.
Â
Lavatai tore his ACL in the eighth game of the season last year, missing the remainder of the year and all of spring practice, but has come back to start four of Navy's first five games.
Â
Lavatai has rushed for 847 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career, while throwing for 1,655 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Â
Last week, against North Texas, Lavatai came off the bench for the first time in his career and led Navy to a 27-24 win.Â
Â
The Mids (2-3, 1-2 in the AAC) travel to Charlotte (1-4, 0-1) this weekend for a 2 PM game that will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Navy Radio Network.
