ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A historic season from Navy men's soccer senior
David Jackson earned him a spot on the 2023 College Soccer News All-America Third Team, the publication announced Monday afternoon.
With the honor, the standout midfielder becomes the first Navy player to earn postseason All-American status since 2014, when Joseph Greenspan garnered First Team All-American distinction from both College Soccer News and the United Soccer Coaches.
The back-to-back Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, Jackson filled up the scoresheet this season, as his 23 points and five assists both ranked second in the league while his nine goals finished third in the league. His 23 points and nine goals were also the most by a Mid since Jamie Dubyoski posted a nine-goal, 23-point campaign in 2014. Additionally, the senior scored his first collegiate brace in the Aug. 28 win against VMI and immediately followed that by becoming the first Navy player to tally three assists in a game since Michael Paisant in 2000.
A four-time All-Patriot League pick and the league's 2020-21 Rookie of the Year, Jackson collected 61 career points (22 goals, 17 assists) in 61 games played, including eight game-winning goals. A four-time all-region selection and two-time All-ECAC First Teamer as well, Jackson picked up Preseason All-American Third Team honors from TopDrawSoccer back in August.
Jackson joins Greenspan as the only Midshipmen to earn recognition on College Soccer News' All-America Teams.
Jackson was one of two Patriot League players to receive All-American status on Monday, as Boston University defender Griffin Roach joined Jackson on College Soccer News' All-America Third Team.
