Second-Round Play at the 2023 Patriot League Women’s Golf Championship Suspended Due to Weather

Navy Sits in Fourth Place; Second Round Will Conclude on Sunday with Third Round to Follow

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Second round play at the 2023 Patriot League Women's Golf Championship was suspended on Saturday due to thunderstorms and course conditions at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va., with Navy sitting in fourth place when play was halted.
 
Competition is scheduled to resume at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning with student-athletes continuing from where they came off the course on Saturday afternoon. Competitors will begin third-round play directly after they conclude round two.
 
Navy was shooting five strokes over par as a team when play was suspended, with a weekend score of 23 strokes over par. Host Richmond was in first place at the time of suspension at five strokes over par on the weekend, with the Spiders playing even par on Saturday.
 
Boston University's Alice Fan was at the top of the player leaderboard when the teams went in for the day, sitting two strokes under par through 30 holes. Junior Mara Hirtle stands as the top Navy golfer at four strokes over par through 33 holes, tied for ninth in the field.
