BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Tom Fodor,
Molly Mangan and
Sophie Compton of the Navy track and field team earned Patriot League Athlete-of-the-Week honors following their performances at the Penn Relays.

Fodor claimed the men's track athlete-of-the-week award for his ninth-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase. The junior posted a collegiate-best / IC4A qualifying time of 9:00.21. His time ranks third-best in the Patriot League this season.

Mangan received the women's track-athlete-of-the-week accolade after helping the Mids post a program record in the distance medley relay. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native ran the 400m section of the race in 52.62, which would be the fastest 400m dash time in the Patriot League this season. Mangan,

Alex Wercinski and
Emily Boutin placed third in the race with a time of 11:22.72.

Compton garnered the women's rookie-of-the-week honor for playing a key role in Navy's 4x800m relay victory. The freshman ran the second leg of the race in 2:11.83 to push the Mids from fourth to second place. The quartet of Compton,
Mia-Claire Kezal,
McKenna Brophy and
Emily Ettrich finished with the second-fastest time in Navy history at 8:48.17. Additionally, the time is the fastest in the Patriot League this season.

Navy begins postseason action with the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Championship Friday and Saturday. The championship will be held at Lehigh's Goodman Track and Field Complex in Bethlehem, Pa. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. on both days.
