Navy Women’s Soccer Announces Class of 2027

Mids welcome five recruited plebes to program

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's soccer team is proud welcome five new members to its program as the Class of 2027 took its oath during Induction Day on June 29. The Mids' class of recruited newcomers consists of Ali Barrow, Chiara Cosenza, Lucy Gaines, Hannah Mulholland and ClaraJane Williams. This class hails from coast-to-coast with Georgia, New Jersey and Virginia natives on the East and Arizona and Washington natives to the West.
 
Ali Barrow – Defense – Alexandria, Virginia
A versatile three-sport athlete at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, she competed with the soccer, swimming & diving (100 free/3m dive) and softball (outfield) teams … played club soccer with the Virginia Development Academy … broke through as a junior earning All-ISL Conference honors in 2021 and 2022, as well as a spot on the Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention Team and taking home the 2022 Alexandria City Sportsman's Club Player of the Year award … for her success across the fields of competition she was recognized as the 2022-23 St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School's Model Athlete … an accomplished futsal player, her team placed third at the 2021 US Futsal U-17 Nationals and later won the 2023 US Futsal U-19 Northeast Regional Championship … 17 teammates with VDA will be playing Division I soccer … daughter of Chuck and Beth … mother was a two-sport athlete in field hockey and women's lacrosse all four years at Franklin & Marshall College  
Chiara Cosenza – Forward – Westfield, New Jersey
Played soccer interscholastically with Westfield High School and on the club circuit with Skills Talent Attitude (STA) … named to the 2021 All-New Jersey State Second Team, All-North Jersey Section 2 First Team, All-Union County First Team and All-Watchung Conference First Team following her junior season … assisted on the game-winning goal in the 2021 New Jersey Group 4 State Championship game as Westfield went 21-0-1 … qualified with STA to compete at the Girls Academy National Championships in 2020-21 and 2021-22 … daughter of Flavio and Ingrid … achieved black belt status in Karate … former 2018 NWS team captain Karli Sottung (USNA '19) graduated from Westfield High School  
Lucy Gaines – Defense – Seattle, Washington
A three-year varsity letter at Garfield High School … honed her skills playing club soccer with the OL Reign Academy for four years … earned All-Metro Seattle First Team honors following her junior and senior seasons at Garfield, in addition to a spot on the 2022-23 All-Washington State Class 3A Second Team … selected to compete with the US Soccer ODP Washington State Team three years and was invited to the ODP Team West Regional Camp in 2021 and 2022 … served as captain of the Garfield and OL Reign teams as a senior … won the Girls Academy League Pacific Northwest Conference titles in 2021 and 2022 … daughter of John and Maureen … eighth member of her family to participate in DI collegiate athletics as her mother played basketball at Cornell and her grandfather Stanley Intihar played football at Cornell; five additional uncles and cousins participated in college football, basketball, swimming and track.
Hannah Mulholland – Forward – Chandler, Arizona
Earned three varsity letters playing soccer for Hamilton High School … thrived on the club circuit as a member of the Utah Royals FC - AZ squad … a three-time selection to the All-6A Premier Region First Team … culminated career as a 2023 All-6A First Team honoree, the 2023 All-CUSD Offensive Player of the Year, as well as Hamilton's Player of the Year … 12 former teammates are playing DI soccer … away from the pitch, she's been extremely successful in CrossFit finishing in the top 10 percent in the world twice in year-end rankings … graduated from Chandler Online Academy … daughter of William and Sandra  
ClaraJane Williams – Defense – Madison, Georgia
A two-sport standout at Athens Academy as she lettered in soccer for four years and cross country for three … recognized following her sophomore, junior and senior soccer seasons on the All-2A Region 8 First Team … holds Athens Academy's single-season points record with 51 goals and 16 assists … garnered the G. William Thurston Athletic Award for sportsmanship and athletic skill at Athens … starred on the club scene with the Gwinnett Soccer Association program and was named to the 2020-21 ECNL Southeast First Team, in addition to earning that year's ECNL Southeast Player of the Year honor and a spot on the 2020-21 ECNL All-America Team … a winner throughout her interscholastic and club career, she helped Athens' soccer team to the 2A Regional Championship in 2021 and 2022 before finishing runner-up in the 2023 GHSA Class AA State Tournament, as well as the school's XC teams to three regional championships; GSA were two-time ECNL Southeast Champions in 2020-21 and 2021-22 … daughter of Philip and Annie
