Sprint Football Opens South Division Play at Chestnut Hill

Kickoff between Navy and Chestnut Hill is slated for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy sprint football team (2-1) travels to Conshohocken, Pa. for a Collegiate Sprint Football League South Division match up against Chestnut Hill (2-1, 1-0) on Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. at A.A. Garthwaite Stadium (Conshohocken Field "A").
 
The game will be live streamed on the CACC Network and live stats will be available.
 
All-Time Series
Navy holds the all-time series lead against Chestnut Hill, 7-0 (1.000). The Mids and Griffins have met four times in Annapolis with Navy posting four victories – W, 43-0 in 2016; W, 31-0 in 2018; W, 52-0 in 2021, and 48-7 in 2023. In Conshohocken, Pa., the Midshipmen are still undefeated (3-0), but the games are closer with the Mids notching wins – W, 27-17; W, 28-12; and W, 27-7.

Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy enters the contest 2-1 overall. The Midshipmen defeated Mansfield, 31-26, before posting a 49-0 home victory over Cornell. In their last outing, the Mids dropped a 17-3 decision to Army at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
 
Through three games, Navy has outscored its opponents 83-43. The Mids have amassed 1,256 total yards of offense, including 903 yards rushing and 353 passing yards. The Midshipmen defense has held its opponents to 831 total yards with 373 rushing yards and 458 passing yards.
 
Hunter Gennicks leads the Midshipmen with 449 total yards rushing and a team-high six touchdowns. Quarterback Luke Wagner has added 149 yards on the ground with a rushing TD. Through the air, Wagner is 28-for-54 passing for 349 yards and a touchdown. Christ Stumpf and Biamungu Nkere lead the team with eight receptions each for 118 and 103 yards, respectively. Jackson Suddath is third on the team with 68 receiving yards.
 
Defensively, the Midshipmen have seven players with double digit tackles. Jake Wolinski leads the team with 28 stops, including 3.0 tackles for loss. Major Kent follows with 15 tackles, while Tyler Cox adds 14 stops. Simon Burger and David Niski each have 13 tackles with Seamas Carrasco and Mick Tabor following with 11 apiece. Niski leads the team with 3.5 tackles for loss with Burger tying Wolinski with 3.0 TFLs. As a team, the Mids have had eight different players intercept a pass, four register sacks, and have forced one fumble.
 
Jacori Sutton is second on the team with 21 total points. He has made five field goals, while adding six extra points on the year.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Chestnut Hill enters the weekend 2-1 overall, including a 1-0 mark in the CSFL South. The Griffins opened the year with a 28-6 win over division foe Caldwell before falling to Army, 35-0. Chestnut Hill rebounded with a 27-9 home win over Cornell.
 
Chestnut Hill has outscored its opponents 55-50. The Griffins have tallied 988 total yards, including 629 rushing yards and 359 yards through the air. The CHC defense has allowed 752 total yards with 255 on the ground and 497 passing yards.
 
On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Andre Cancellare is 37-for-74 for 359 yards with five touchdown passes and five interceptions. Lawrence Howard V and Xavier Limehouse have split carries leading the team with 248 and 228 yards rushing, respectively. The duo has combined for three scores. Kyree Griffin is Cancellare's top receiver hauling in a team-high nine receptions for a team-best 152 yards and two scores.
 
On defense, Trevon Hodnett and Lex Williams lead the team with 17 tackles apiece. As a team, the Griffins have registered 14.0 tackles for loss with 3.0 sacks. Additionally, Chestnut Hill has picked off two passes and forced a fumble.

Navy posted a 48-7 victory over Chestnut Hill in a CSFL South Division match up at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game served as Navy's Senior Day and the senior class helped propel the Midshipmen to the decisive victory.
 
Navy recognized its 22 seniors – Brandon Atwood, Liam Brown, Dante Carrasco, Jack Costigan, Luke Eleftheriou, Nadir Emlemdi, Mychal Golden, Andrew Henderson, Eli Holloman, Angelo Labbe, Jobe Long, Andrew Margiotta, Devyn Martin, Tyler Massena, Victor Otero, Patrick Palm, Trent Parker, Weston Reese, Kai Sasaki, Andrew Sowinski, Mitchell Waters, and Ben Witte – prior to the game.
 
Offensively, Navy tallied 533 yards of total offense in the game, including 366 yards rushing and 167 yards passing. The Midshipmen scored seven touchdowns on the night with seniors accounting for five scores.
 
Atwood finished the night 14-for-17 for 163 yards through the air and four touchdown passes. The senior quarterback added 74 yards rushing to finish as the Mids' second leading rusher on the night. Atwood connected with fellow seniors Long (2x), Otero, and Sasaki for four TDs.
 
Massena rounded out the scoring for the senior class, plunging into the end zone from one yard out. He finished with 64 yards rushing on 14 carries with the score. Hunter Gennicks led the way on the ground with 115 yards on 10 rushes and a touchdown. Gennicks got most of his yardage in the fourth quarter, helping run out the clock and secure the victory. Luke Wagner finished the night with 44 yards on the ground, finding the end zone on a 30-yard scamper. Additionally, Wagner connected with Long in the end zone on a successful two-point conversion.
 
Defensively, the Midshipmen surrendered 328 yards of total offense on 239 passing yards and 89 yards on the ground with one touchdown in the game. Over the years, Navy and Chestnut Hill have met four times in Annapolis with the Midshipmen defense holding the Griffins scoreless is 15 of 16 quarters of play.
 
Seniors Costigan, Henderson, and Labbe led the way defensively for the Midshipmen. Costigan paced the squad with eight tackles, including a sack, while Henderson and Labbe added seven stops apiece. Niski and Holloman added to the senior output registering a tackle for loss each, while Martin and Sowinski added combined TFLs in the game. D.Carrasco picked off a Chestnut Hill pass, returning it 81 yards to the Griffin's four yardline, setting up Massena's touchdown.
 
On special teams, Emlemdi was credited with a pair of punt returns for 18 yards. He had a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown, but a penalty brought the ball back to 42 yardline. Navy would go on to score on the drive. Additionally, Golden connected on four point-after touchdown attempts.
 
Up Next
Following the road game with Chestnut Hill, the Midshipmen will have a bye week before traveling to CSFL newcomer Molloy for a non-divisional game. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. The game will be live streamed and live stats will be available.
