ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 17 Navy women's lacrosse team (8-2) steps out of conference for a midweek road game against Saint Joseph's (4-5) on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Sweeney Field in Philadelphia. The game will be broadcast on

All-Time Series
The game marks the fifth meeting between the two teams and the third competition in Philadelphia. Navy holds an 3-1 (.750) overall record against Saint Joseph's with a 2-0 mark in Philadelphia.
The two teams last met in 2022 with the Hawks edging the Midshipmen, 10-9, at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak by Navy in the series.
The inaugural meeting between the two teams came in 2018 with the Midshipmen recording a 16-11 victory over SJU in Philly. The last time the two teams met in Philadelphia was 2020 in with Navy notching a 19-12 victory.
Scouting the Midshipmen
The No. 17 Navy women's lacrosse team enters the week 8-2 overall. In their last outing, the Midshipmen posted a 20-9 victory over Boston University at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Midshipmen jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
As a team, the Midshipmen have tallied 156 goals with 64 assists, while picking up 162 ground balls, winning 173 draw controls, and causing 80 turnovers.
Entering the week,
Emily Messinese and
Tori DiCarlo lead the team with 44 and 40 points, respectively. Messinese has 44 points with on 35 goals, while adding nine assists. DiCarlo is second one the team with 40 points on 34 goals with six helpers. Messinese has posted a team-best nine hat tricks in 10 games, while DiCarlo has registered eight hat tricks to this point.
Kat McAteer is third on the team with 31 total points. The sophomore has a balanced 15 goals with a team-high 16 assists to her credit. In the last game, McAteer recorded a season-best four helpers against the Terriers.
Lola Leone is fourth in points (24) and third in goals (19) with four hat tricks on the year.
Mikayla Williams moved into fifth on the team with 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists, while
Maggie DeFabio has 14 goals with six assists for 20 points to round out Navy's 20 or more-point scorers.
Emma Kennedy has posted a balanced attack of six goals and seven assists for 13 points, while
Lindsay Beardmore also has double-digit points (10) with seven goals and three assists.
Defensively,
Felicia Giglio has logged just over 503 of the 600 minutes between the pipes for the Midshipmen. The freshman goalkeeper has notched 54 saves with 17 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Emma Richardell has recorded 12 stops with four caused turnovers and three ground balls in just under 91 of action in 2024.
DeFabio, Giglio, and Williams are tied for the team lead with 17 ground balls apiece.
Caroline Stefans has picked up 15 GB close out the Mids' double-digit ground balls. Stefans has caused a team-high 10 turnovers, ahead of
Jaclyn Johns and Giglio who have nine and seven, individually. Freshmen
Caroline Gage and Williams have caused six turnovers each with DeFabio, Leone, and McAteer adding five CT.
Alyssa Daley leads the team with 84 draw controls. The junior ranks seventh in program history with 161 draws. She is ten (10) back of Kathy Young ('13) for seventh all time (171 draws). With four draws against #8 Loyola, Messinese became the 13th Midshipmen with 100 or more career draws controls. Messinese currently has 32 draws on the year and 106 career DC. Williams, and Stefans follow with 19 and 11 draws, respectively.
Scouting the Opposition
The Hawks enter the week with a 4-5 overall record. Most recently, Saint Joseph's dropped an A-10 game to No. 25 Richmond, 16-12, on the road. In their last home game, the Hawks notched a 20-6 win against conference foe George Washington at Sweeney Field.
Saint Joe's is led by Lisa Ross, who has a team high 32 points on 10 goals and a team-best 22 assists. Maddie Yoder and Kate Fuhrman have 22 points each. Yoder leads the team with 20 goals, while Fuhrman is second with 19 scores. Alexa Capozzoli is second on the team in points (24) with a balanced 12 goals and 12 helpers.
At goal, Jordan Concordia has played in all nine games between the pipes for SJU. The senior has logged just under 532 of the team's 540 minutes at goal, leading the team with 104 saves with a 52.0 save percentage and a 10.83 goals against average. Concordia leads the team in ground balls with 19, while Bella Schorr has a team-best 11 caused turnovers.
Yoder and Bella Miceli lead the Hawks with 29 and 26 draw controls, respectively, while Emma O'Neill has 18 draws.
The Hawks' head coach Alex Kahoe (Maryland '00) played for current Navy head coach
Cindy Timchal at the University of Maryland. Kahoe was a part of the teams that won five National Championships and three ACC Championships. A three-time All-American, ACC Goalie of the Year, and two-time NCAA Goalie of the Year, she also earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors in 1997. Kahoe was inducted into the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame on October 3, 2014.
