BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams combined for six spots on the Patriot League All-Academic Teams for the sport.
Gabi Baldwin,
Cameron Horner and
Caroline Irwin were named to the women's team with
Patrick Colwell,
Jake Douberly and
Gavin Green selected for the men's team.
Nominees for the team needed to be at least a sophomore academically, have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 and be a key member of the team.
Baldwin was named to the team for the third year in a row. She has posted a 3.53 GPA as a political science major. In the pool, she qualified for the championship final in eight of her nine career individual events at the league meet, earned first-team all-league honors in each of the last three years -- the 2021 league championship was not held due to COVID -- and won titles in the 200 back in 2022 and 200 IM in 2024. Baldwin also placed second in an event four times.
Horner is an operations research major with a 3.47 GPA. She previously was named to the league's all-academic team in 2023. Horner received first-team all-league laurels in 2022 and '23 and earned a second-team award at this year's championship. She won the 200 free at the 2023 league meet and finished in second place in the 200 free in 2022 and the 1650 free in 2023.
Irwin also is a repeat honoree from the 2023 team. She has attained a 3.45 GPA as a data science major. Irwin has placed either first or second in five of her nine career individual events at the Patriot League Championship, including a victory in this year's 100 fly final to go along with four career second-place showings. She garnered first-team all-league honors in 2023 and '24 after having earned a second-team nod in 2022.
Colwell was a member of the league's all-academic team in 2023. The three-time first-team all-league recipient has posted a 3.47 GPA as a cyber operations major. He reached the championship final in all nine of his career individual events at the league meet. Colwell won the 200 fly at the 2023 championship and recorded an additional five second-place finishes over the course of his three meets.
Green makes his first appearance on the all-academic team. A mathematics with economics major, he has attained a 3.85 GPA in his three semesters at Navy. He received second-team all-league accolades this season in which he placed fourth in the 100 breast, tied for fifth place in the 50 free and won the consolation final in the 100 free.
Douberly also was named to the academic team for the first time. The operations research major has posted a 3.77 GPA. He placed fourth in the 400 IM and fifth in the 200 fly at this year's league meet. He previously finished in seventh place in the 400 IM and won the consolation final of the 200 fly in 2023.
