Women’s Golf Claims Patriot League Championship, Stephanie Lee Wins Individual Medal

Navy’s Kylee Sullivan Named Coach of the Year After Leading Program to Second League Title

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Earning its second-ever trip to the NCAA Regionals, the Navy women's golf team shot a tournament-best 9-over par 289 in the final round to capture the 2024 Patriot League Women's Golf Championship title on Sunday afternoon at the par-70, 5,926-yard Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.

With the round of 289 on Sunday, the Midshipmen finished with a three-day score of 42-over par 882 (295-298-289) to take home the program's second league championship and beat out runner-up Boston University by nine strokes. Claiming the league title for the first time since 2021, the 882 marked the lowest 54-hole Patriot League Championship score by total strokes for the Mids in program history.

Carding a 2-over par 72 on Sunday, senior Stephanie Lee posted a tournament score of 8-over par 218 (73-73-72) to earn individual medalist honors and become the first golfer in program history to finish at the top of the Patriot League Championship's leaderboard. With her First Team selection as well, Lee also became the third player in program history to earn All-Patriot League three times in a career.

Finishing just one stroke behind her teammate, sophomore Sue Lee shot a 4-over par 74 over the final 18 holes to end the weekend as the tournament runner-up at 9-over par 219 (73-72-74), beating out third-place Christy Chen of Boston by one stroke and receiving All-Patriot League First Team distinction.

Earning First-Team All-Patriot League honors alongside Stephanie Lee and Sue Lee, freshman Emma Tang finished in a tie for fifth place at 15-over par 225 (74-77-74).

Tying for 15th, sophomore Hallie Brisco closed the weekend at 22-over par 232 (75-80-77), while rookie Keira Howard bounced back after a tough Saturday to shoot a 1-under par 69 on Sunday and finish the event in a tie for 19th at 24-over par 234. The round of 69 from Howard marked the lowest round by total strokes at the league championship in program history.

Senior captain Mara Hirtle also continued to climb up the standings with her second-straight round of 6-over par 76 to end in a tie for 21st at 25-over par 235.

Navy head coach Kylee Sullivan also took home Patriot League Coach of the Year in her first season at the helm, the fourth time a Navy coach has won the award after Sullivan's mentor and predecessor Nadia Ste-Marie won it in 2015, 2018 and 2021.

"I am so proud of the entire team," said Sullivan. "Everyone played a part in this win. We put in a lot of hard work all season and it showed during these three rounds. The team stayed in the moment and was able to take it wire-to-wire, and we are looking forward to NCAA Regionals!"

Navy will now head to NCAA Regional play on May 6-8 at one of six regional sites. The Mids find out their regional destination on Wednesday, April 24 when the NCAA Women's Selection Show airs at 2 p.m. on the GOLF Channel.
