ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy women's golf team is set to compete in its penultimate regular-season event on Saturday, April 5, taking on Delaware in a match play event held at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
Competition in the singles match play is slated to begin at noon on the par-71, 5,670-yard course.
Match Play Format
The Midshipmen and Blue Hens will compete in a modified match play instead of the normal dual-match format, as the two teams will play six singles matches … Singles competition will pit one player from each team against each other, hole after hole, with a point being awarded to the player with the lowest score at the end of the round … The winning golfer will earn a team point with a win, while a tie earns a half-point … If the teams are tied at the end of singles competition, there will be a one-person playoff to determine the team win.
Match Play History
This will mark the second time Navy has participated in a match play that only features single competition, as the Mids dropped a sudden-death playoff hole to Delaware last season on March 25 after sitting tied 3-3 following the six singles matches … Despite departed senior
Eve Worden falling to Lilia Henkel in the playoff, Worden was joined by then-freshman
Sue Lee and then-junior
Stephanie Lee in earning singles match wins to force the sudden-death hole … The Mids also have a 6-2 record in dual matches that includes singles and four-ball play.

Mara Hirtle also posted a top-10 finish, as her 17-over par 233 tied her for 10th place.
Scouting Delaware
Last season's runner-up at the CAA Championship, Delaware will use the match-play event with Navy as final tune-up for the 2024 CAA Championship next weekend … The Blue Hens are coming off a second-place finish at the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina last weekend, as Marissa Malosh (3-over par 219) tied for fourth on the leaderboard and Christina Carroll finished in a tie for seventh (6-over par 222).
