ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Days removed from winning her first tournament of the fall, Navy junior
Emma Tang was named the Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Taking home the individual medal with a 3-over par 147 weekend at the Lehigh Invitational in Bedminster, N.J., Tang helped the Midshipmen finish fourth (47-over par 623) in the 15-team field at the par-72, 6,153-yard Trump National Golf Club.
Starting the event with a round of 73 on Saturday, the juniors then tallied a round of 74 in Sunday's action to propel herself into first place on the leaderboard. The score matched Old Dominion's Puneet Bajwa, with Tang earning the individual medal via a scorecard tie-breaker.
Tang's win marks her program-record third career individual medal, while the junior holds a 75.54 season scoring average entering the winter break and a program-record 75.53 career scoring average.
The award marks the first time Tang has won weekly league honors this season and the fifth time garnering Patriot League Golfer of the Week laurels in her career.
