ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy track and field teams continue their postseason stretch with the IC4A / ECAC Outdoor Championships Friday through Sunday at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
The meet begins Friday with the men's hammer throw at 4:30 p.m. The field events resume Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and the track events start at 2:50 p.m. Sunday's slate features the remaining field (10 a.m.) and track events (11:05 a.m.).

Navy at the IC4A / ECAC Championships
The men's team has claimed eight IC4A titles in program history and has won the meet four of the last five times it has been held. The Mids won three-straight championships from 1944-46 and won their fourth title in 1973. Navy then won the event three-consecutive times in 2018, '19 and '21. (canceled in 2020 due to Covid-19). The Mids totaled 154.5 points at last year's meet to place first of 38 teams.
Joshua Boamah was named the men's most outstanding performer at the championship a year ago for winning the shot put with a distance of 17.10m (56' 1.25") and placing second in the discus with a mark of 51.73m (169' 8").
The women's team has won an ECAC Championship at both the Division II (1989) and Division I levels (2021). The Mids finished in fourth place of 37 teams with 52.5 points at the championship last season and had the best placement among the six Patriot League schools.
Last Time Out (Patriot League Outdoor Championship)
Navy began the postseason by sweeping the Patriot League Outdoor Championship last weekend. The Mids have swept the meet the last six times it has been held. Navy track and field has now won both the men's and women's titles at the last nine Patriot League Championships between the indoor and outdoor meets.
The men's team ended with 295 points to claim its 10th outdoor title in a row and 11th overall. The men placed first in 13 of the 22 events and set two new meet records. Additionally, Navy won four of the five major awards on the men's side.
Nathan Kent was named the men's track athlete of the meet for winning 200m (20.98) and 400m (47.26). His 200m time is tied for the fourth-fastest finish in program history.
Kent also anchored the first-place 4x400m relay team.

Boamah claimed the men's field athlete-of-the-meet and highest point scorer honors for the second-consecutive season. He won the shot put and discus with marks of 18.66m (61' 2.75") and 53.47m (175' 5"), respectively. His shot put distance ranks second all-time in school history.
Additionally, the San Diego, Calif., native garnered a second-place finish in the hammer throw by posting the fifth-farthest mark in team history (66.15m / 217' 0").
Guillaume posted a new meet record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.21 to win the race. His time bested the previous record by 0.11 set by Navy's Cameron Hurd (51.32) in 2019. The finish ranks second in program history.
Sam Keeny garnered a victory in the 3,000m steeplechase by breaking the 21-year meet record with a time of 8:41.52. He beat the previous record by nearly 10 seconds, which was set in 1993 by Navy's Greg Keller (8:51.13). He now owns the second-fastest time in school history.
The women's team totaled 212.33 points to win its sixth-consecutive title and eighth all-time. The women won six of the 22 events, broke two school records and one meet record.
Ellie Abraham broke the meet and Navy record in the 3,000m steeplechase to win the race for the third-straight year. She ended with a time of 10:10.03. Her time was 1.21 seconds faster than the old record posted by Army's Helen Shearer (10:11.24) in 2021. Abraham's finish bested

Mayu Gayton shattered the 100m program record with a time of 11.60 to place second in the preliminary race. She beat her previous school record time by 0.13, which she clocked in earlier this season at the Navy Spring Invitational. Gayton then recorded the second-best time in team history at 11.68 to place first in the finals.
Director of Track and Field / Cross Country
Jamie Cook received both the men's and women's coach-of-the-year accolades for the sixth-straight time the meet has been held. He has earned the distinction every year during his tenure in Annapolis.

The Mids travel to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the NCAA East Regional Championship May 22-25. Kentucky will play host to the four-day event at the UK Track and Field Complex.
Athletes who have recorded a time / mark that ranks in the top 48 in their respective event in the East Region through meets held this weekend will be eligible to compete in Lexington. Additionally, the top 24 declared relay teams will be accepted into the competition. The top-12 competitors from each individual event and the top-12 teams from each relay event will advance from the East and West Preliminaries to compete at nationals. The individual event student-athletes and relay teams accepted into regionals will be announced and posted on NCAA.com the week prior to the meet.
The men's team currently has ten athletes who own a qualifying time / mark in eleven events.
